Mother’s Day Activities and Games

On Mother’s Day why not share in some Mother’s Day games and activities. These ideas can be shared with the whole family and make Mother’s Day special.

Mother’s Day Activities:

Movie Theme Night

Why not take your mother to her favorite movie right in your own house? She would love the idea of having the movie of her choice played out in a decorated theater. You can do this buy simply getting some poster board or construction paper and making some movie curtains, listing the movie being played with drawn or cut out spot lights and listing an area where she can get refreshments and snacks. Don’t forget to put her favorite snacks in a corner where she can get them. She will feel at ease and enjoy herself with her favorite movie and in her theater that is all her own. Any age group can do this activity.

Taking your mother out to dinner

Choose her favorite restaurant or favorite cuisine and have a night out with your mother. She will love the fact that you thought of her and made the effort to do this special thing. Also, dress-up for her when going out to dinner, showing her that this day means something to you and it is to be celebrated. Any age group can do this activity; younger children would need the help of an adult if it were an adult type restaurant.

Camping or any outdoor activity

Having the whole family go camping, swimming or any kind of sport or events can make your mother feel at ease and have fun with everyone. Taking the time to organize events such as touring a museum while you travel will be a new experience and fun for the whole family. Perhaps a fair or some kind of themed event that is taking place during Mother’s Day will be special for her to experience. Any age group can do this activity; younger children many need the assistance of an adult for certain activities.

Mother’s Day Games:

Explaining why mothers are important

Your children can write down little words on a piece of paper or draw pictures to show why mothers are important, especially their mother. This will teach children the value of what it means to be a mother and also give a keepsake for the mother to keep. The game could be played as a bingo game if the words or pictures are set up as such. This game is normally for younger children of ages 2-10.

Memory Game

This particular game can be done with all the mothers of the family, grandmothers, mothers, and great-grandmothers. Have each mother set up a list of things they remember their mother doing. When the list is done, have each one of the mother’s pick one thing from the list and act it out. The game is a great way to celebrate why each mother and child feel how much their mother means to them. Any age group can do this game.

Pictures from the past

If possible get some pictures of your mother from when she was younger. Set them all out on the table and try to guess what it was for or when at what age she did what she did. This can be done via hand held pictures or by making it a game digitally for everyone to do. The pictures will give more insight into what your mother has done in her life and why certain events were important to her. This is a wonderful experience to be able to take a look back. Any age group can do this game.
