Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix – Hot and Spicy Flavor Review

I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it: I love chicken. I prefer dark meat over the white. But I love skinless, boneless chicken breasts when they’re coated and baked in the oven. Read this Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix- Hot and Spicy Flavor review and find out if you and your family will like this flavor as well!

Price and Availability
I bought a two-packet bag of this product at a small Mom and Pop grocery I happened to stop at. I’m sure I paid way too much compared to Kroger, Meijer or Wal-Mart. The price was $4.19 for a 5.75 ounce box.

Product Description
Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix- Hot and Spicy Flavor is made for flavoring chicken or pork. The original flavor of this product has been around forever. If you’re old enough, you probably remember the catchphrase from their early television commercials where a girl says, “It’s Shake ‘N Bake, and I helped!”

Shake ‘N Bake is the best coating mix I have ever used to date, bar none. Just like the box reads, “Crispy Outside. Juicy Inside!” The original flavor always had just the right amount of spices in it for my taste.

Ingredients
The ingredients of Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix- Hot and Spicy Flavor include: Enriched Wheat Flour, Bleached Wheat Flour, Maltodextrin, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil, Wheat Flour, Salt, Spice, Contains less than 2% of Dried Garlic, Dried Onions, Paprika, Sugar, Caramel Color, Yeast, Dextrose and Natural Flavor.

Nutrition Facts
According to the box, a serving size is 1/8 of a packet. Each serving includes: 40 calories, calories from fat- 10, total fat- 1 gram, saturated fat- 0 grams, trans fat- 0 grams, cholesterol- 0 grams, sodium- 170 milligrams, total carbohydrates- 7 grams, 0 grams- sugar and 1 gram of protein.

Easy Preparation
If you’ve ever used Shake ‘N Bake before, then you know how easy it is to prepare. All you need to do is: 1) Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 2) Moisten with water 6 to 8 bone-in chicken pieces- 2-1/2 pounds; or skinless, boneless chicken breasts- 2 pounds. Or moisten 1/2 inch thick pork chops with water. 3) Open and place a packet of the seasoning into a shaker bag. Then, place 1 to 2 pieces, at a time, of the moistened chicken or pork into the bag. 4) Shake the pieces until they are coated. Toss away the bag and any seasoned coating mix that may be left. 5) Place the pieces in a single layer on an ungreased or foil-lined 15X10X1 inch baking pan. Bake in the oven 45 minutes for bone-in chicken, 20 minutes for boneless chicken, and 15 to 20 minutes for the pork chops. Don’t cover or turn the chicken pieces or the pork chops while it’s baking.

Taste Test
If you’re looking for a Jalapeno Pepper-type hot, then Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix- Hot and Spicy Flavor may be too mild for you. I enjoy eating spicy-hot foods, but not burn-the-tongue-out-of-your-mouth-hot. The ingredients in this coating mix, as you can tell, are pretty mild, and my whole family loved it.

Conclusion
I highly recommend buying Kraft Shake ‘N Bake Seasoned Coating Mix- Hot and Spicy Flavor. It’s a quick way to dress-up otherwise boring chicken or pork!
