KitchenAid Immersion Blender: Review

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender revoluntionizes the need for both a food processor and blender in one handy, easy to use tool. Whip up your favorite drinks, soups, and dips with one easy to use, lightweight but power packed tool.

I purchased the KitcheAid Immersion Blender for $49.99 at Target. You can also find this product at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender comes in three colors: white, black and red to match any kitchen.

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender has variable speeds which you can adjust with one push of a button, depending on the consistency of the ingredients you want to achieve. The Immersion Blender has the ability to dive into 8″ depth of liquid or solids. The sharp, solidly constructed stainless steel blade makes cutting through even solid ingredients a breeze. The one touch power button personifies simplicity in cooking. With the quick touch of a button, cooks can blend hot or cold ingredients quickly and without the hassle of a bulky food processor or blender. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender also fits comfortably in your hand and is lightweight, weighing in at only 2.9 pounds.

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender eliminates the need for cleaning hard to reach blades inside a blender with its easy to clean wand. Simply dip the wand into water or run under hot water, and the food comes off easily. For more solid foods, the blades are easily cleaned with a little soap on a sponge and water. You can also put the wand (not the motor attachment) into the dishwasher for cleaning. This is the easiest to clean tool that I have in my kitchen and it makes using it a true pleasure. For those that hate to drag out their blenders or food processors because of the hassle of putting them together and cleaning up, the KitchenAid Immersion Blender is the perfect appliance.

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender is solidly built to last and I have yet to find an ingredient it was unable to cut through. Even dry Italian bread can easily be made into breadcrumbs with this tool. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender is wonderful for making soups, either hot or cold. Simply dip the wand into the soup and let it do the work for you as you puree your concoction to the right consistency. I have used this appliance when making soups that call for only part of the soup to be pureed. Without having to remove some of the soup to a blender to puree to a smooth consistency, I was easily able to control how much of the soup I wanted pureed without it leaving the pot, eliminating excess work and clean up. Refried beans, hummus, dips, frostings and sauces are easily made with the KitchenAid Immersion Blender.

The five foot cord makes moving around the kitchen easy, although truth be told if it was a little longer, I would not mind one bit. I find it is not always as long as I would like for moving from one pot to the next and it does not seem like it is 5 feet long. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender also comes with a 3 cup beaker with lid so you can choose to blend ingredients right into the cup. I have not used the beaker as I find it is an extra step that can be eliminated. However, the beaker comes in handy for other uses such as mixing flour and milk for gravy or for storage of prepared foods.

The KitchenAid Immersion Blender has truly revolutionized the way I cook, enabling me to create dishes quicker and with less cleanup. I simply attach the wand to the motor in one click, plug in the cord, press the power button and I am set to go. My only complaint is that it does not come in stainless steel, which I would prefer to match my other appliances. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender is an absolute must have for anyone who loves to cook, and even for those who cook little but enjoy making dips and smoothies and don’t like to use or do not have a blender or food processor. I have already bought two of these for gifts, in addition to the one I have bought myself and both recipients love this handy tool!

I have yet to find something this immersion blender cannot do that a blender can. For serious cooks, a food processor is still a must for dough, chopping and slicing, but the KitchenAid Immersion Blender allows you to cut down on how often you have to use the bulkier food processor. It would be interesting if KitchenAid eventually made attachments for this little wand that allowed a cook to slice food, similar to a food processor attachment does. I highly recommend the KitchenAid Immersion Blender to anyone. You will be thrilled with its ability in the kitchen, the amazingly simple clean up and the incredible job this little tool does. Every time I use this tool (and it is quite often) I have a blast and am amazed by its capabilities and the end results of my dishes.
