Is Steve Burton Joining the Cast of ‘Young and the Restless?’

Reports are saying that Steve Burton, ex-Jason from “General Hospital” has just signed a deal to join the CBS soap opera “Young And The Restless.” Some actors from “Young And The Restless” have even been discussing this deal via Tweets. However, if this news is true, it really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, who follows the news surrounding Steve.

The ex-producer of “General Hospital” now works at the set of “Young and the Restless.” Of course, she is Jill Farren Phelps. She is also a known friend and business partner of Steve’s. They are currently working on a televovla together. Plus, rumors have stated one of the reasons that Steve may have left “General Hospital’ was to move on to “Young and the Restless.”

What will this mean for the character of Jason, who’s body never was found? It could mean that Jason will be recast. Many fans may not like the idea of Jason being played by a new actor. However, if Steve joins the cast of another soap, it may make it easier for fans to deal with an actor change. Plus, fans may realize that Jason is a pivotal role and really needs to resurface, again. They know that the character of Sam, Jason’s wife, has never given up that Jason was alive. Plus, Jason doesn’t even know that little Danny is his own. These are reasons enough for many fans to want Jason to be alive. Another reason is that Sonny needs Jason. He needs him to help calm him and help him with their business matters.

Who could play Jason? Of course, nobody could play Jason as well as Steve Burton. Steve has Jason’s quiet demeanor down flat. However, another actor could try. With time that actor may even make that character his own.

Who do you think would make a reasonable Jason? What about Antonio Sabato, Jr. He played Jagger Cates on “General Hospital” during the nineties. Would he make a reasonable Jason? There are reports that he is rejoining the show. Of course, the reports say he is joining the show to replay the part of Jagger. But who knows. Maybe he will play a different part. Maybe he will play Jason. Yes, this is a far-fetched idea. But far-fetched ideas do sometimes work in television, especially soap operas.
