Homemade Mother’s Day Cards

As a mother, I love anything homemade from my children. So dad, or significant other, follow these guidelines for Homemade Mother’s Day Cards. You should know what your child is capable of so I am including easy to a little more complex. Whichever one your child does, Mom will love it.

Some children from 12 months to two years will be able to make this homemade Mother’s Day card. You need a piece of construction paper (mom’s favorite color would be a good touch), crayons or markers. Fold the construction paper in half to look like a card and let your child decorate it. Obviously, you will have to do the writing. If your child is articulate, you can ask them what they would like to say. Usually, “Mom” on the front, and inside says, “I love you” or “Thanks for being a great Mom” anything will make Mom’s day special with a homemade Mother’s Day card.

Children from two to four years old may be able to make this homemade Mother’s Day card. I would still use construction paper (again, mom’s favorite color would be a nice touch), crayons, pens, markers, glitter glue (glue with glitter already in it), and neon glue. These are non-toxic and water cleanup, yet your little one will think this is a treat. If they can have them fold the paper in half like a card, ask them what they want the card to say, if they can let them write their name on the card and have them decorate it. Mom will love anything they have to say or you can put something on it for them.

Five year old children and up can usually make their own homemade Mother’s Day cards. It is still a good idea for you to supervise so it does not get too messy. Get lots of construction paper, scissors, regular glue, glitter glue, neon glue, markers, and paint (get the squeeze brush paint). Let this age group of children do their own homemade Mother’s Day cards. If they don’t have any ideas, fold one piece of construction paper for the card and have the child draw a heart to fit the front of the card, and have them cut it out and glue it on if possible. If they want to, have them do smaller hearts to layer the first heart. Let them write the card themselves unless they want your help.
