BBC Broadcasting used to own the Langham Hotel. During that time journalists staying at the hotel reported ghost sightings including ghosts in Victorian garb and the ghost of a German soldier. Another claim was that Napoleon III haunted the basement.

Reportedly there are at least five ghosts that make regular appearances at this hotel. A silver haired Victorian era man with blank staring eyes is said to be the spirit of a doctor who murdered his wife and then committed suicide. There is a ghost who is said to be a German prince who threw himself out the window of an upper floor.
Room 333 is supposed to be the most haunted room in the elegant hotel. In this room a BBC newscaster woke up to see a florescent ball which took human shape before his eyes.

Recent celebrity guests include Rod Stewart, Shirley Bassey, David Hasselhof, Elton John, Rikki Lake, Phil Collins, Richard Gere and Rod Steiger.
