Weddings can be become very costly events. There are so many different areas to think about and each can weigh on your budget in different ways. When time comes to consider what you will use as centerpiece or table decorations there are so many choices. This is one area that can add a lot to your bottom line if you are not careful. Be assured that you don’t have to skimp in this area to save there are many inexpensive items you can use to create centerpieces with that will add that style and pizzazz you want at your wedding reception. One inexpensive and very versatile item to decorate or create centerpieces with are fruit. In this article I want to share some various ways you can create beautiful centerpieces with fruit.

Fruit centerpiece options include:

1. One of the easiest fruit centerpieces to create is a bowl of fruit. You could actually use a basket, bucket or pale to hold seasonal fruits. You will not cut these fruit up, simply wash and arrange them in the container and allow there natural beauty to shine.

For winter centerpieces you can add sugar or candied berries to the bowl or container the fruit is in and intersperse mint leaves for a pop of color.

For a fall wedding centerpiece you can make your container to the hold the fruit out of a hollowed pumpkin. You can also fill the pumpkin with miniature pumpkins and gourds.

2. If the color of pineapples fit into your wedding color scheme you could make whole pineapples you centerpiece with small tea light candles surrounding the pineapple on a mirror or piece of glass.

3. If you want your centerpiece to serve two purposes you can create edible fruit skewers as a centerpiece. These will be an unexpected but great use of your dollar.

4. You could create a fruit pyramid by starting with larger sized fruit, turning them upside down and using a hot glue gun to connect them side by side. You will continue to then add layers of smaller and smaller fruit until you pyramid is the size you desire. You can fill in any gaps and holes by using pieces of greenery or flowers. The food pyramid can be created with real or faux fruit.

5. You can cut citrus fruit into slices and use the slices to decorate a glass vase or bowl. The slices can serve as the filler in the bottom of a vase with flowers or candles floating a top, or the slices can be left to float among the top of the water with floating candles.

6. You can use faux grapes and their grape vine to decorate a long rectangular table. The grapes and the vine can act as a runner. You could then immerse tea light or votive candles throughout the length of the vine for a special touch.

7. You can create a faux berry cascade. To this you will need a floating vase, a small piece of round Styrofoam, and some berries. You will start by covering the outside rim of the vase with long berry stems that will hang over. You will work from the outside in, using the very shortest branches on the inside. Berries can be found in so many colors so it should not be hard to find some that coordinate with your wedding colors.

8. You can nestle a pillar candle into a bed of cranberries or any berry of your choice for a quick, but elegant look.

Fruit can be a very inexpensive and versatile to work with. Use your imagination to create table centerpieces that will not overtake your wedding budget.
