Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip

When I was at an AA meeting a few days ago, among the items that were served along with the ubiquitous pot of coffee, were potato chips and Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip. That was the first time I had seen this dip and I’m glad I decided to try it.

Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is an article which reviews and examines Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized container of Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip is nine ounces. According to the product’s nutrition label, the container holds about eight 2 tablespoon servings.

After tasting this product, however, I think that many people’s serving sizes will be larger than two tablespoons, because it tastes so good.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one nine ounce container of Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.79.

The per serving cost of this product works out to roughly $0.33c, which I think is reasonable for what I consider to be a specialty item.

Consistency / Texture
This cheese dip offers a smooth and creamy consistency that provides a satisfying mouth feel. The dip is fairly thick and it clings well to any food it is eaten with.

When I ate Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip, the dip was heated in a microwave oven at the mid meeting break. The texture of the dip made me think it would also be a good topping for baked potatoes or some vegetables.

Nutritional Facts
Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip contains 50 calories, with 30 calories from fat, per two tablespoon serving. This tasty dip also contains 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 3.5 grams total fat, less than 5 mg of cholesterol, 320 mg of sodium, 3 grams total carbohydrates, 0 grams of dietary fiber, less than 1 gram of sugars and 1 gram of protein, per two tablespoon serving.

Taste / Flavor
When I first saw this cheese dip, I was unsure if I would like its taste. Its bright, goldish yellow color looked artificial to me, but then I realized that it was the color of melted cheddar cheese.

The flavor blend of cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers in Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip is well balanced and appealingly hot. The jalapeno kick in this dip seemed subtle to me, with a slow, yet mellow burn. If you are a fan of very hot foods, this cheese dip might not be hot enough for you.

On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.

Packaging
Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip is packaged in a plastic like can that opens easily and re-closes easily. The classic goldish yellow and red front label features an illustration of a wedge of cheese with a couple of peppers and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Fritos Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese Dip is a tasty cheese dip that can be eaten straight-from-the-can, at room temperature, or heated. This cheese dip is available at food retailers across America and is recommended by this food writer.
