But, this product is more than just a chocolate bar. Each 57g (2oz) bar of Dark Chocolate with Almonds bar by See’s is just a small part of a fund raising initiative that helps to support Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue, an organisation set up in northern California dedicated to helping abandoned cats and dogs that need to be re-homed. Each time someone buys a bar of Dark Chocolate with Almonds by See’s or any other See’s chocolate bars; they are contributing to this non-profit organisation and helping to keep this rescue and re-homing work going.

Cost

I recently bought a bar of Dark Chocolate with Almonds by See’s as well as some other chocolate bars by the same company from the See’s Candies shop in the Yuba-Sutter Mall in Yuba City, California. The chocolate bar cost $1.50. While I would not normally pay that much for a chocolate bar, I was informed by one of the volunteers in the shop that the proceeds from sales go towards helping to provide funds for Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue. This is a worthy cause that I felt more than willing to support, which is why I bought some See’s chocolate bars.

Taste

Dark Chocolate by See’s came in segments. The chocolate was rich, smooth and it was delicious. There were plenty of whole almonds in the chocolate, which gave it a nice texture. The dark chocolate was a little bit bitter, but I expected this. It did not ruin the taste of the chocolate bar though.

Nutrition Information

Each 57g chocolate bar contains 300 calories, 11g of saturated fat, 15mg of cholesterol, 35mg of sodium, 1g of dietary fibre and 31g of sugar. From what we can see in the nutrition information, Dark Chocolate with Almonds by See’s is not a low calorie or low fat food. It would not be suitable for diabetics or people trying to cut down on fat in their diet.

Recommendation

Even though this chocolate bar is high in calories and fat, it is good to eat it occasionally as a treat. Not everyone is in a position to adopt a cat or a dog. But by buying just one chocolate bar by See’s they can make a small contribution to help keep Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue running.
