CVS Low Dose Chewable Aspirin Review

Low dose aspirin has been used by many for heart health. Another use for low dose aspirin is minor pains and fever. CVS makes a chewable low dose aspirin for adults in the standard 81mg dose. I wanted a low dose aspirin to have on hand for minor pains. I decided to purchase this low dose chewable aspirin from my local CVS pharmacy for fewer than two dollars. I decided to give it a try when I had a slight headache and this is what I found out.

CVS chewable low dose aspirin comes in a bottle of thirty six tablets. The tablets are orange and have an orange flavor. The bottle says to compare the active ingredient in Bayer chewable aspirin. The active ingredient in this product is Aspirin at 81mg per a tablet. This aspirin product can be used for minor aches and pains. This product can also be used for an aspirin regime for heart health. If you are planning on starting an aspirin regime consult with your physician before starting. Some folks may have sensitivity to aspirin products. If you have a known allergy to aspirin you shouldn’t take this product. Don’t give this product to a child or teenager recovering from the flu or chickenpox. If your child or teenager is recovering from the flu or chicken pox and they take this product they could come down with Rye syndrome. Rye syndrome is rare but can be very dangerous. Another reason not to take this product is if you just had a tonsillectomy or oral surgery. After these types of surgeries you should wait at least seven days. Also ask your physician before starting aspirin if you have bleeding problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, take a diuretic, 60 or older, asthma, ulcers, heartburn, upset stomach or pain, taking another NSAID, blood thing drugs, steroids, prescriptions for diabetes, gout and arthritis. If you are pregnant or breast feeding you should ask your doctor before use. Aspirin use in the last three months of pregnancy can be dangerous to the unborn baby and complicate delivery. These tablets taste like candy so please keep out of reach of small children. If an overdose occurs contact your poison control and get emergency help. Adults and children 12 years and older can take 4-8 tablets every four hours with a glass of water. Never take more than 48 tablets in a 24 hour period. I was having a mild headache and I wanted to try the lowest dose pain killer that would work. I took only four tablets and waited for pain relief. The tablets had a pleasant orange flavor, which was a pleasure to chew. Within about fifteen minutes, I noticed my headache dissipating. The product did take away my mild headache, without having to take a large dose. I will keep these around in my cabinet for minor pains. This product would also be good for folks that are required to take a daily aspirin for heart health. They are easy to chew and swallow. This is an all around good product and I would recommend CVS low dose aspirin to anyone that needs it.
