Cal-Organic Farms Organic Romaine Lettuce Review

When it comes to making salads I have to admit that I am not very creative. I myself would be perfectly happy just have washed and chopped up lettuce as a side dish but in efforts to actually make it a salad I add a couple diced carrots to the mix. We have this kind of basic salad quite often and so I find that I need to always keep lettuce on hand. I have played around with the idea of stocking up on lettuce but some times it turns before I can use it all. For this reason I find it better to get a head of lettuce at a time, making fresher lettuce purchases. As I scanned the various lettuces that were in the grocery store I examined the organic ones and noticed Cal-Organic Farms Organic Romaine Lettuce. I had never gotten this lettuce before and was happy to see that it wasn’t in a bag. I decided to try this lettuce out.

I used one of the produce bags that the grocery store had to bring the lettuce home and left it in the bag so that it would stay fresh. Unfortunately I didn’t get around to using the lettuce on the first day or the next day. On the third day of having it I was certain that it would have started to wilt. Disappointed and eager to eat up the lettuce while it was still sort of fresh I made a salad. To my surprise as I was pulling off the Cal-Organic Farms Organic Romaine Lettuce leaves to wash them there was the wonderful sound of crunching. Despite being days old the lettuce still was very, very crisp. In fact it was as crisp as it should be on the first day. I was very, very relieved and happy about this. In addition to sounding super fresh the lettuce also was still a great color will little to no sign of any kind of wilting of any sort. Most importantly though I thought that the lettuce tasted very, very good.

Now I knew I would be looking for the Cal-Organic Farms Organic Romaine Lettuce the next time that I was at the grocery store. I found the head of lettuce for about two dollars. This is a pretty good price for a high quality organic lettuce that is smaller so I was really pleased about that. I decided to search the web to see if I could find anything about the company Cal-Organic Farms, as this was the first time that I had tried anything of theirs. Their website was very impressive and I was able to look up the nutrition facts of their romaine lettuce. In six leaves of this lettuce there is only half of one calorie, three grams of carbohydrates, one gram of both fiber and protein and twice as much sugars. In the minerals and vitamins section there was twenty percent listed for vitamin A, four percent listed for vitamin C and two percent listed for both calcium and iron. This was the first time that I had looked at nutrition facts for a lettuce and I found them to be very pleasing.

I would recommend for anyone to try out Cal-Organic Farms Organic Romaine Lettuce. Not only did it keep well and taste good but it was also inexpensive. The company offers many other vegetables as well as melons so I will be sure to keep an eye for the brand name in general. I am very glad that I decided to try out this organic lettuce and I am sure that I will be getting it again when I can find it. I have been getting Earthbound Farm Organic Lettuce but I like this lettuce much better.
