You know I have been working my way through the internet for a while now and I must admit that I have run into alot of different opportunities along with alot of different web hosting sites. In hopes to find a web hosting company that offered WYSIWYG for cheap. I learned along the way that cheap isn’t always good and neither is WYSIWYG.
I first learned about WYSIWYG through Godaddy.com. They offered website tonight which is a WYSIWYG website builder. I was excited about the idea of not having to really learn SQL. All I needed was basic HTMl and I was fine. I eventually became stuck with Website tonight because I was limited in what I could do. So I moved on and began searching for something bigger and better.
I eventually ran into Bluevoda, which is a website builder just like Website Tonight. It’s a WYSIWYG software that allows you to build your website with just point and click. Once again I was excited so I jumped on board.Bluevoda to me was a bit expensive for web hosting but I figured, why not try it out. it seems easy enough. I paid the ten dollars a month and rolled with the punches. I began building my site and trying to figure out how to use the software properly and for the most part, I mastered the basics. I learned how to build, point and click and publish.
Over time I began to get a little frustrated with Bluevoda because I couldn’t figure out how to align my pages so that other web browsers could view it properly. Bluevoda had numerous tutorials about how to lock images, publish your page, add tags and etc but I could never find a tutorial on how to align and measure my page out right. This was a huge issue that needed to be addressed but no one was able to help me. So for about 6 months, I attempted to figure it out on my own. but It did nothing but turn into a disaster and a waste of money.
My website looked extremely good in the editing box of Bluevoda but once I published it and tested it on different web browsers, it was a totally different story. I would find that some of my images were located on the other side of my page or my text was scattered across the screen when it didn’t look like that what so ever in the editing screen. It got to the point where I started over and created a new concept. Unfortunately I got the same results.
Bluevoda makes their software seem easy to master. For which it might be for the guru of web design but definately not for the newbie. And even I don’t consider myself a newbie but I couldn’t get my head around the alignment of the page. I ended up wasting 60 dollars of my money with Bluevoda WYSIWYG website building software that did nothing but give me the run around.
I don’t want to be the one to say that Bluevoda is one of the worst WYSIWYG website building softwares because for someone else it might be the best to ever hit the market. All I know is that it isn’t as easy as they make it seem. It doesn’t make building a site no easier than you having to learn a little HTML, SQL or javascript. I personally don’t think that WYSIWYG is even worth the effort. I believe that if you really want your website to be successful and stand against other websites then you may want to learn the languages.
Bluevoda isn’t my cup of tea and I have met many others who feel the same. Don’t get me wrong Bluevoda has major potential and for the mastermind of web design, Bluevoda is the way to go. But as for me, I lost my desire for WYSIWYG editing software like Bluevoda because in the end it really isn’t what you see is what you get.
