Beaches in Delaware – Why Rehoboth is the Best!

There are a handful of great beaches in Delaware. But Rehoboth Beach is truly the best of all Delaware Beaches. The town is truly unique and perfect for families of all sizes.

The beach is free and beautiful with mid-sized waves which are perfect for body surfing or just having fun in the water. Lounge by the shoreline and feel the ocean breeze or take a stroll up to the mile long Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.

Unsure where to stay? There are quite a few accommodations in Rehoboth Beach. Whether you are looking for hotels, motels, condos or even bed and breakfasts. Many are located within walking distance to the beach with ocean views. Some are even luxury or oceanfront, like the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel or Atlantic Sands Hotel.

The best part about Rehoboth is the beautiful sunrises over the water. Stay in an oceanfront hotel and experience this beautiful experience.

During the day or night, walk down one of the best boardwalks in the U.S. and enjoy the various arcades and shops to buy beach souvenirs. Play some of the best Rehoboth Beach Mini Golf at Ryan’s Rooftop golf course. (Cheap and great views!)

Be sure to stop by Funland, the amusement park right on the boardwalk. Take a ride on the classic Haunted Mansion or test your luck in a game of Whac-A-Mole!

Looking for some tasty snacks? Turn off the boardwalk onto Wilmington Avenue for some of the best ice cream at Royal Treat. You could also stop at Thrasher’s French Fries and get a tub of the most delicious, golden fries you will ever have. Be sure to dip them in vinegar to get the full experience!

When it’s time for dinner, choose from a number of different restaurants. From fine dining at the Back Porch on Rehoboth Avenue to fresh seafood at Jake’s Seafood House on Baltimore Avenue. There’s even Grotto Pizza, the best Delaware pizza you will ever have. There is something for everyone!

After you dine, stop by the bandstand for some free local music on Saturday evenings. You can also hit up one of the many bars in the area. We recommend Dogfish Head, Dos Locos or The Summerhouse on Rehoboth Avenue! There is also the Blue Moon on Baltimore Avenue. (A fun and truly unique experience! )

Looking for some action? Rent bikes, scooters or mopeds and drive around this small beach town. The side roads are beautiful and flat, and traffic is minimal. Take a ride by beautiful Lake Gerar or Silver Lake and watch the sun go down.

Looking for a shopping experience? Rehoboth has some of the best outlets you will find. In fact, some people come down to Rehoboth for the Outlets alone!

Out on Coastal Highway, there are three Tanger outlet stores with over 125 brand names. Check out Coach for classic discounts on your favorite bags and wallets. Or stop by Ann Taylor for some big discounts. And remember that everything in Rehoboth is tax free!

Between the beach, the boardwalk, the beautiful assortment of accommodations and other Rehoboth attractions, this is truly one of the best family beach vacations.
