Beach theme weddings can be a lot of fun to plan and a lot of fun for your guests. While enjoying the natural beauty of the beach, you may want to incorporate a theme into your big day.
Words of caution though; don’t overdo your theme. The beach by itself is beautiful enough, so don’t take away from that by overdoing a theme.
Once you choose your theme you will want to use it in all aspects of your wedding. Starting with your invitations, select one that compliments your chosen theme. For example, choose invitations and reception decorations that are decorated with seashells, tropical flowers or whatever your theme is.
While there are many different options to choose from listed below are three popular choices for beach theme weddings.
Seashells & Lighthouses
Nothing says beach wedding more than seashells and lighthouses which makes them the perfect theme idea. The options are just about endless for all aspects of your wedding.
For centerpieces, try filling bowls or hurricane vases with sand and shells. Or, put a lighthouse in the middle of each table.
Seashell decorated votive candle holders make great wedding favors. Also, other traditional favors such as frames, bottle stoppers and cookies come decorated with seashells and lighthouses.
A luau is a fun choice for a wedding theme. Start the day off with a lei for the wedding party and each guest. Then, serve traditional Hawaiian food like a roasted pig, poi and other specialties of Hawaii.
Hawaiian-themed weddings are typically on the relaxing side, and you can even ask your guests to dress in typical Hawaiian dresses for the women and Hawaiian shirts for the men.
For your reception hula or fire dancers make a big impact. Finish it off with some tropical drinks for a great tropical Hawaiian wedding day.
Tropical Flowers
Tropical flowers are a beautiful option for a wedding theme. If you are getting married on an island, check with the local resort or florist to see what flowers are the most readily available.
A nice tropical option is orchids. Not only can they withstand hot beach temperatures, they are also beautiful. Another colorful option is hibiscus. The bright red and pink colors are a great selection for your bridesmaid dresses.
When you have chosen the tropical flower of your choice, use it anywhere you can in your wedding. You can start off with invitations and use the flower in your centerpieces, decorations and bouquets.
