Babar the Elephant Themed Party Favors for Children

With the 80th anniversary celebration of Babar the elephant underway, there has never been a better time to throw a Babar themed birthday party for your child. After all, the anniversary festivities are bound to bring about a resurgence of interest in the stately pachyderm. If you do decide to eventually plan a fete in honor of America’s four-legged friend, here’s a rundown on several party favors worth considering:

Elephant Chocolate Candies

A box full of chocolate elephant candies would undoubtedly appeal to most party guests. There are many companies that make 3-D Elephant Candy Molds. However, I don’t know of any that currently make official Babar molds. Nonetheless, the regular elephant molds will work. All you really need to do is top the pops with a marzipan crown.

Storybooks

Babar storybooks would make excellent party favors as well. Although, buying enough books to accommodate all of your child’s friends may prove to be a costly endeavor. That’s because Babar’s enduring popularity has kept the retail prices for most of his books in the $7 to $25 price range. Of course you could always opt to make your own Babar books by amassing free coloring pages and sandwiching them in between cardstock.

Homemade Stickers

Homemade Babar stickers would make super gifts too. All you need in order to make some is a package of blank labels and access to the Babar Treehouse TV website. It features a section that contains free sticker templates of Babar and his friends. A package of shipping labels from an office supply store is apt to cost you $10 to $30 depending on the retailer.

Homemade Book Bags

While you are on the website, you may also want to think about printing some of the Babar graphics onto iron-on transfer paper. That way, you could also whip up a few homemade Babar book bags for your guests. On average, a case of 50 blank tote bags is likely to lighten your wallet by about $32. You can usually purchase them through craft stores and party supply shops. A pack of iron-on transfer paper traditionally retails for $13 through office supply stores.

Elephant Masks

Last but not least, I’d suggest kicking around the idea of handing out Plush Elephant Masks. They tend to retail for $7 through costume shops. If you can’t find them in your area, you could always let the kids make their own elephant masks out of craft foam. If you do decide to go that route, there is a free elephant mask template available on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s website that would be perfect for such a party activity. I’d also recommend picking up a bag of elastic straps from AccuCut Crafts. That way, you can attach them to the kids’ finished masks instead of string.
