Avon 4-Level Micro-Dermabrasion System: Review

In the quest for more youthful looking skin, I have tried numerous skin care products proclaiming almost miraculous results. Most of them help some, but don’t live up to all the claims. I remember watching a 20/20 type show on TV several years ago, discussing anti-aging cosmetics, and giving their take on the best and the worst. Avon’s Anew was highly recommended.

Now Avon has a new product to add to their line of Anew products, and this may be the most promising yet! It is called Anew Clinical Advanced Dermabrasion System.

Description

This product comes in a silver colored, 2.5 ounce tube. It doesn’t look like any other tube of face cream on the market! The end of the cap twists open and shut, and there are four numbers along the outer edge of the cap; 1-2-3-4. There are two holes in the cap, one releases the white conditioning cream, and the other hole releases the silver colored skin polishers.

How To Use

This is a four step process. During the first step you only use the first number, 1. This contains a mild cream that helps cleanse the skin and smooth away dry, dead, flaky skin. Step 1 is used for the first two weeks. The second step, number 2, mixes in a small amount of the silver polisher. There is a larger portion of the white cream than there is the silver polisher. This second step is also done for the next two weeks.

Step 3 allows you to “dial up” even more of the silver polishing cream, increasing the intensity of the abrasion on your skin. Step 3, just like steps 1 and 2, is also done for two weeks, and is supposed to even out the skin tone, and lighten dark (age) spots. Step 4 is the most intense of all of the steps, which contains the largest portion of the abrasive silver polishing cream. After using this step for 2 weeks, wrinkles have been shown to be visibly diminished.

How To Apply

The directions instruct you to apply these creams to a clean, wet face. When starting out on level 1, you are to use this a couple times a week, before you move on to level 2. It should take 2 months to complete all four levels, at which time you should take a break for 2 to 3 weeks, and then start over and repeat the procedure, starting at level 1 again.

Thoughts

Because I am friends with an Avon rep, I was able to get this at an introductory price, before it was available in the Avon Campaigns that the general public receive. I have been using a good microdermabrasion scrub, but I think this Avon product is better and does a more professional job. I love that the tube allows me to gradually dial up to a greater level of abrasiveness. It contains the gentle cleansers that clean and condition my skin while it’s scrubbing the dead skin layers off of my face.

The smell isn’t strong, which is a plus. The squeeze tube is easy to use, my other product comes in a tub and it’s hard to get out without getting the product under my long fingernails.

Of course the product also recommends, that for best results, you combine this therapy with the ThermaFirm and Intensive Age Treatment products. I don’t feel these are necessary, as I have a very good moisturizer for my face, as well as another anti-aging cream containing a SPF that gives me daily protection from the suns harmful UV rays.

The tube of Anew Clinical Advanced Dermabrasion System costs $28.00 at full retail cost. Avon’s products are usually listed at full price when they are new to the market, but they generally go on sale once they’ve been out for a while. These products retail for $28 and $32, so this is a good deal.
