3 Musketeers Mint with Dark Chocolate Candy Bar Review

When I first saw these advertised on television, I thought, “Oh, here we go again! Messing with a classic.” If you’ve read some of my other reviews, I’ve mentioned that I’m not one who normally likes original products changed. For example, I like Oreo brand cookies, but I don’t like Nabisco’s new Oreo cakesters. I like Coke, but I don’t like Cherry Coke or any of the other flavors they’ve come up with. I’m not pleased when I see a remake of a movie. Although I will confess that some of them are indeed better than the originals. Read this 3 Musketeers Mint With Dark Chocolate candy bar review and find out if Mars was able to impress this old Fuddy Duddy!

Product Description
I didn’t notice it on the TV commercials, but when I spotted a 3 Musketeers Mint candy bar at the grocery, the first thing I saw was that it’s smaller. Not in length, but in width. I’m not sure how many ounces a regular 3 Musketeers is, but this one is a mere 1.24 ounces.

The package for the mint variety closely resembles the regular 3 Musketeers in that it’s mainly silver background with red and blue. So you can easily recognize it. Except for the addition of “NEW!” and “Mint With Dark Chocolate”.

Once you open the pack, you’ll find not one, but two rectangular bars inside.

Price
Being 3 Musketeers Mint candy bar is a new product, I was able to buy three for somewhere around a buck or two. Once they’re on the market for awhile, they’ll cost the same as other candy bars. So if you want to try one, better buy it while the price is lower.

Taste Test
First, I’ve always liked the taste of the original 3 Musketeers candy bar. I also like the fact they contain “45% Less Fat”, and I enjoy the creamy nougat. The regular version contains a whopping 260 calories per serving, (one bar). Interesting enough, the mint version contains only 150 calories per serving. That was a plus right there.

When I bit into the 3 Musketeers Mint with Dark Chocolate candy bar, I almost forgot what kind of candy I was eating. I bet you’ll think the same thing when you try it! Immediately, the cool, refreshing mint, along with the dark chocolate, reminded me of a York Peppermint Pattie. Then, I was confused. “If this just tastes like another candy bar, then what’s the big deal?” For me, I had to take a couple more bites of the creamy middle until I finally tasted a hint of an original 3 Musketeers bar. As you can imagine, the mint overwhelms the lighter taste that Mars mixed it with.

Conclusion
If you enjoy eating dark chocolate and mint, and, you’re looking for fewer calories, less cholesterol- 0 grams in a 3 Musketeers Mint with Dark Chocolate candy bar, as opposed to the 5 grams in an original bar- less sodium and even 18 grams less sugar, then check out this new product for yourself.

But, if you’re looking for a 3 Musketeers bar with a taste twist, you’re going to be disappointed. As I said, the cool mint overtakes the other tastes. Personally, I don’t think the 3 Musketeers Mint with Dark Chocolate candy bar is going to fly in the sweets market. I think others will agree that, if I feel like having dark chocolate and mint, I’ll grab a Peppermint Pattie instead. I’m not impressed.
