Yankee Candle Company’s Product Return Policy

There’s no doubt about it: Yankee Candles are some of the most expensive candles on the market today. With a 22oz large glass jar candle selling for $23.99, purchasing just one scented candle means a substantial investment. With that much money at stake, many consumers are reluctant to purchase the largest Yankee Candles, even though they give you the best value (the smaller jar candles cost more per ounce of wax…like most things in life, the more you buy, the more you save). Luckily, Yankee Candle has a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee return policy that takes all the risk out of buying one of their candles. As a former manager for Yankee Candle, I’ll explain the ins-and-outs of their liberal return policy in this article.

So, what exactly does “100% Satisfaction Guaranteed” actually mean? Simply put, if for any reason you are unhappy with your Yankee Candle, they will take it back. Many times you won’t figure out that you don’t like a particular scent until after you start burning the candle, so Yankee Candle will also accept candles that have been burned. Don’t be embarrassed about this…a jar candle costs Yankee Candle very little money to make, and they want to be sure that you are completely happy with your purchase. So if you start burning a candle and decide that you don’t like it, don’t throw it away-return it!

Like most other companies, if you have a receipt for your purchase, Yankee Candle will issue you a complete refund or product exchange at the price you paid. If you do not have a receipt, however, you will receive a store credit for the current selling price. Many other companies offer store credits at the lowest selling price, meaning that you will get back the lowest amount that your product has ever been sold for. The process is somewhat fairer at Yankee Candle, because they will give you credit in the amount that they are selling your product for that day. So if you have a Christmas candle you want to return, don’t return it during the after-Christmas sale…wait until the Christmas scents go back to full price, then return your candle, and you’ll get more store credit. The same is true for other seasonal candles.

The final thing to point out is that you can always do an even-exchange at Yankee Candle, regardless of the current selling price. That means that if you walk in the door with an unburned large jar candle with a scent you don’t care for, you can exchange it for any other large jar candle in the store. This is also a nice change of pace from some other companies, who will only let you exchange sale merchandise for other sale merchandise. As you can see, Yankee Candle has a very fair and liberal return policy that truly does remove the risk from buying candles. With their 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, Yankee Candle makes it easy to know for sure that you will end up with a fabulous scent that you and your family will love!
