Write Clickbank Product Reviews that Will Sell

Clickbank is a website where publishers wanting to sell their digital products such as e-books can go and submit them to a marketplace. Affiliates can select one or more products to promote and make money by earning commissions from the sale of the chosen products.

Making money with clickbank as an affiliate seems very easy at first: you create a free account using a unique nickname and you search clickbank’s marketplace for products to promote in your website or blog. Anyone that clicks on the link containing your affiliate link (hoplink) and then goes on to buy the product enables you to earn between 50 and 75% of the product’s selling price in commission.

The commission rate is one of the highest that can be found on the Internet and there are around 10000 products from different categories to choose from so whether your website is about pets, health or making money online, just about anyone can find suitable products to promote.

The easiest way to make people click and buy the products you are promoting is to write good reviews about them and include your hoplink in the body of your review. Anyone who clicks on your hoplink will be directed to a sales page where they can read the product’s description and buy it, usually by credit card or with Paypal.

Of course, not all reviews will work. If your reviews are just hyped-up sales advertisements, chances are the reader will quickly be turned off. If, on the other end, you write that you have not tried the product and don’t actually know if it does what it says it does, the reader will try to find a review written by someone who knows what they are talking about, and might buy the same product through someone else’s hoplink, earning you no commission at all.

The best type of review is the one that sounds genuine. If you feel you must try the product before writing about it, buy it first; if you like it, you will be more likely to write a good quality article about it; without focusing on them, mention the low points of the product if you have found some, as well as the positive points. Your review will be more credible and you will earn the trust of your readers who might come back to your website or recommend it to others.

One thing I don’t like about some clickbank e-books sales pages is that they are a bit “too much” and they end up sounding like “get rich quick” or “find the love of your life instantly” scams. Without putting too much of a dampener on things and if you want to gain your readers’ trust, it would be useful to add a line telling the prospective buyers that although they can expect some positive results from the product, the results the advertisement claims may be slightly overestimated.

I should also mention that some people who notice your affiliate link (or hoplink) after clicking on it may just delete it from their browser and buy the product directly from the product’s website or, if they themselves are affiliates, will even replace your hoplink with their own, and you can miss out on a lot of commission this way. In order to stop this from happening, you can hide your affiliate link, and clickbank even provides you with a way to do this in their tools pages. Some of you may think it is unethical to hide affiliate links, but just like offline salespeople get commissions on the products they sell, I think that once you do the hard work reviewing and promoting a product you deserve your commission. Do not lie and say that you are not an affiliate, but don’t go out of your way either saying that you will be paid a commission if someone buys the product you are writing about.
