Winsor & Newton’s Acrylic Galeria Paints: Consumer Product Review

For over a decade now, I have been practicing the craft of acrylic painting. Through the years, I have utilized many different brands of acrylic paints. From discount paints sold at dollar stores, to very expensive acrylic paints, I have encountered mixed results and performance from many of the brands that I have worked with. One of the highest- quality and overall best- performing brands of acrylic paints that I have had the opportunity to utilize is Winsor & Newton’s(TM) line of Galeria Paints.

Since 1832,Winsor & Newton(TM) has been and is widely recognized as being one of the leading manufacturers of oil, acrylic and watercolour paints worldwide. Their line of Galeria Acrylic Paints are a welcome addition to the crowded palette of high- priced acrylic paints normally found at many art supply stores. Galeria Acrylic Paints offer all of the high- quality performance and results that Winsor & Newton Paints are famous for, yet they are very reasonably priced. The quality of these paints is so high that they actually more resemble traditional oil colours than acrylics. My first introduction to Galeria Paints was by way of a gift from a friend, several years ago. My friend was gracious enough to present me with a Winsor & Newton(TM) Galeria 10 Tube Set, most of which I still have. Since then, I have purchased several single tubes of Galeria Paints. The 10 Tube Set contains ten two- ounce tubes of acrylic paint. As with all of the Galeria Paints, the colors in the tubes exude brilliance, clarity and an excellent appearance when dried. There are 50 colours offered in the Galeria line of paints.Seven shades of red, Nine shades of yellow, two shades of orange, seven shades of green, eight shades of blue, two shades of purple, six shades of brown, two shades each of black and white plus several more are offered in Winsor & Newton’s line of Galeria Paints.

Galeria Paints always flow easily from the tubes when I use them. These paints consistently offer a smooth consistency that is easy to work with, when applying to canvas, or other materials. Winsor & Newton(TM) Paints dilute very well with water and thicken well with mediums. Their drying- time is relatively fast, especially considering the high- quality of the paints. Compared to other brands of acrylic paints that I have used, Galeria Paints offer a high degree of permanence in their application. Case in point; a couple of years ago, while teaching a Senior Citizen painting class, I purchased some inexpensive acrylic paint sets from a local art supply store. One day, oneof the students spilled a small amount of water on her half- finished painting. As we wiped- up the water from the canvas board, the pigmentation, or colour, also disappeared. Not the case with Winsor & Newton’s(TM) Galeria Paints. These paints really last. Galeria Paints are sold in a wide- variety of sizes and styles of containers, including the economically- priced multi- tube sets. With its easy- to- use versatility and economical price range, Winsor & Newton’s Galeria Paints are a great choice for painters of any skill level.
