Whirlpool Estate Washer Review

I finally purchased my first new washing machine in 2006. I went to many stores, looking at all brands, the options, the prices, and warranties. I found myself back at my favorite retailer, who in their words, like to kick it old school when helping a consumer get a good deal, and they always beat everyone at price. My final decision was for a Whirlpool Washer. The model I purchased was the Whirlpool Estate Super Capacity Washer model number ETW4300SQ. The ticket price was $325.00, after talking with the manager, we agreed to $225.00 out the door.

Features:

This model is a top loader, heavy duty washer with super capacity, seven cycles, soft touch knobs, bleach dispenser, and two speeds. When they say seven cycles, the washer itself only has the option for normal, permanent press, and gentle. The washer has three temperature settings of cold, warm, and hot. All rinses are done on cold, which maybe not appealing to some consumers. The washer has four water level settings of small, medium, large, and super. One feature I like, is that the inner basket of the Estate washer is porcelain on stainless steel. The Estate washer energy usage according to the sticker on my machine, is in the middle, but slightly to the high. This model uses 428 kWh, the scale on energy usage shows on the sticker the low of 113 kWh, to the high of 680 kWh. The Estate Washer comes with a one year limited warranty, paying for only specified parts, and labor. Here I do recommend the stores extra warranty, for no headaches.

Performance:

I have used every option this washing machine has to offer. On the super load setting, I am able to wash my queen comforter with out a struggle. Being it is a top loader washing machine, I do have to watch on how I set the comforter in, as to not offset the balance of the barrel. I like the bleach dispenser option, which sits off to the right side on the top. The machine itself, is not real noisy, it is quieter then other machines I have used in the past. I would place the noise level between quiet and medium. It does not offer the extra spin cycle, which is a nice option to have, but I just reset the soft touch knob to rinse once the washing is done, and restart the washer. It is a little bit of a pain in the rear, but once you have become accustomed to it, it is no bother. The machine itself is not heavy. I am a female, and I can move this washer without stress, or injuring my back.

Appearance:

Lets face it folks, if your buying a washing machine, it is not going to be based on the machines looks, as this is not what cleans your clothes. The Estate Washing Machine, is your typical top loader. This model, is not the top of line, so don’t expect nothing fancy looking. It is all white, but the soft touch knobs are grey, which offsets the all white, giving it a little appeal.

Summary:

This washer is a nice machine for the price. My laundry, which I do two loads a day, is mostly towels, and jeans, and has always come out clean. I have not had any problems with this washer. The Estate Washer, is made by Whirlpool, and those who know Whirlpool, know they tend to have a good track record on their products. In having my machine for two years now, I am overall very pleased. It is a perfect washer for those on a budget, who want more then the bottom line, no option washer. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give my estate washer a 8. An 8 due to only cold rinse, and no fabric softener dispenser.
