Water Country USA Near Richmond, VA Offers All of the Thrills and Spills You Could Expect

Water Country USA is located off of interstate 64 between Richmond and the Hampton Roads area. Nestled in a wooded area right off of route 199 in Williamsburg, Virginia, you will find a the East Coast’s best water park where wet and wild is the name of the game. Water Country USA is a great addition to a family vacation to Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown and shouldn’t be missed.

As you approach the Water Country parking lot, you might wonder where the Mid-Atlantic’s largest water park is hiding (it is among the trees). It is evident upon entering the parking lot area that your day will be full of brightly colored slides and lots of fun oldies tunes. You will pay $10.00 to park your car for the day and walk to the front gate (you can leave and come back, but don’t lose your receipt or you will pay again.) For a little more you can park really close to the front gate. Once you reach the front gate, you pay admission, which is to be expected. There are several admission prices, but $38.95 is the one day, adult admission price. Water Country also offers a variety of park-hopper passes and multi-day tickets online, as well as season passes. Children and seniors get various discounted tickets as well.

Once you’ve paid for parking and admission, the fun can begin. Water Country’s attractions and rides are all set to a 1950’s and 1960’s surf theme. When you enter the park, you will be greeted by staff members who want to take your picture for key chains that you can purchase later on in the day. After that, it is recommended that you either rent a locker for the day or find a beach chair where you will feel comfortable leaving your towels and beach bag. Now you can start riding the rides! The wave pool is by far one of the best and most popular attractions. There is never a line to get in and the water is always perfect – plus the waves come at regular intervals. Life jackets are free to use, but make sure you use them properly or the life guards will call you on it! Big Daddy Falls offers a ride for up to 5 people and sends you down a rafting adventure that is fun and exhilarating! Malibu pipeline is a 2 person raft ride that is completely in the dark and plunges you into oblivion. Nitro racer is a racing themed ride where up to 6 people race on mats down a slide head first. Hubba-Hubba Highway is a themed lazy river that is again popular because there is no line to get in! If you are looking for a water park that can deliver kiddie wading pools right next to thrilling speed slides, then you have found your place! You shouldn’t miss out on this one.

Water Country truly delivers in every arena except one – it can be very expensive. You already know that you will have to pay for parking and admission, but what about food and souvenirs? Well, Water Country does offer some of the best food ever eaten at a water park. Whether you want a quick pizza or you are going to have a full meal, the food is always amazing, but it is also amazingly expensive. The good thing is that there are quite a few places to go and eat if you choose to leave the park and get fast food. Also, picnic tables are provided in the parking lots if you choose to go that route. Any souvenirs that you want to bring home are going to cost you an arm and a leg too. If you want to buy something like a bathing suit or sandals, you better have your no limit credit card with you and make sure you budget some souvenir money in for the kids – there are toy and candy shops throughout the park! Wear sunscreen as there isn’t much shade and drink tons of water to avoid overheating and know that you can get free water (filtered tap) anywhere they serve fountain drinks. If you keep these things in mind, you should have a fabulous day!

So, plan a day (or two) at Water Country USA with your friends and family and come experience all the wet thrills and spills that Williamsburg has to offer!
