Watching a Chargers Game at Qualcomm Stadium

Despite Age Qualcomm Stadium Still Pleases Chargers Fans
The San Diego Chargers play at the Qualcomm Stadium. Fans can enjoy a variety of tailgating and entertainment options in and around the stadium when attending a Chargers game.

The team moved to the facility in 1967 after playing in Los Angeles. The facility has been updated since that time and now has over 70,000 seats. It is the second oldest stadium in the NFL. See the Qualcomm Stadium seating chart for additional information about the seats for a Chargers home game.

Fans can travel to the stadium using both the trolley and bus lines through the San Diego Metropolitan Transportation System (MTS). Anyone driving to a game can pay for a tailgate parking space in the Outer Ring lot. In addition, all visitors can tailgate immediately behind their vehicle. Passes can also be purchased in Family Parking for $20 per game that is an alcohol free tailgate zones. The passes are sold on a seasonal basis.

Besides regular tailgating, the Bud Light Power Party is a great place for fans to visit before a game. The party takes place in section F2 of the stadium parking lot and opens three and a half hours before kickoff. The area is free and is open to fans of all ages. The tailgate party features live bands, large screen televisions and a variety of games for visitors to enjoy.

Inside the stadium visitors can view the Chargers Ring of Honor. The area pays tribute to members of the Chargers Hall of Fame and is located on the press level. Fans can see the Ring of Honor above the visiting team’s sideline.

Throughout the games after a touchdown, fans sing the “San Diego Super Chargers” fight song. The tune is also sung at the end of a winning game for the team. Other entertainment includes performances by the Charger Girls on the sidelines during games.

During the game guests have a variety of concession options to satisfy their hunger. A favorite item is a walking taco from Tortilla Junction. Fans also enjoy pizza from Oggi’s Pizza and barbequed items from Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ. Unique items such as sushi are also served along with giant Macho Nachos.

Other food options in the stadium include Murphy’s Bar and Restaurant located on the Plaza level along with the Endzone Club on the Loge Level. Murphy’s offers a full bar and standard bar food on its menu. In addition, the Endzone Club offers guests the option of a full buffet before a game.

Single game tickets can be purchased through the Chargers’ website and range in price from $54 for standard tickets up to $315 for club level seats. Visitors attending a game with children should consider purchasing seats in the Family Section. Certain rows in section 54 through 58 are designated as alcohol and abusive language free zones.

Despite its age, Qualcomm Stadium continues to offer upgrades to satisfy Chargers fans. However, demand has been growing for the construction of a new stadium in San Diego. Anyone wanting to attend a game at Qualcomm Stadium should plan a trip soon.
