Vornado VF20 1940’s Replica Air Circulator Review

I was so excited to see the Vornado VF20 in Amazon for 4101. This is basically almost an exact replica of the 1940 model and was re-launched by Vornado with very few modifications to commemorate the 60th anniversary celebration. The prime reason why I was attracted to it is that this is a prized addition to the good collection of antique working models. My grandmother had the original model and this reminds me of my childhood days spent with her. Since I am used to both the original and revised model it is easy for me to give a better comparison.

To begin with the only obvious distinguishing factor is that the new air circulator comes with a finger guard. This is definitely a good initiative taken by the Vornado for enhancing safety features. But still I am not fully satisfied with security aspects as the bars on the protective grill are wider with ample space in between them. So I would suggest you to place it away from the kids reach because they have a tendency to get fascinated by rotating blades and pull the blades through the grill.

As far as the looks and functionality are concerned there is not much of a difference. It is heartening to note that the latest Chinese manufactured air circulator can be compare to the original American Vornado of 40’s in terms of efficiency and output. This looks majestic and has a classic appeal of yester years aesthetically carved fans. The blend of gray and green color gives it an incredibly striking appearance. Though the design date backs to more than 6 decades it still goes well in today’s up to date accessories in living room.

This is constructed of a strong metallic body and frame making it durable. This would be a perfect fan if only the plastic blades and base are replaced by superior quality steel. The thing is I have an aversion towards plastic structures because they pull down the overall looks and quality of a machine. Then regarding the speed, it can be adjusted to 3 modes but I observe that as the speed is increased it becomes noisier. I wonder whether the noise comes as an unavoidable part of this ancient package. If you are going to use it on horizontal settings then please avoid this air circulator because it just creaks and shrieks at this posture.

The propeller does a reasonably good job in pushing more air sufficient for a small room. The Vornado VF20 1940’s Replica Air Circulator stands one feet tall and is capable of distributing the air through out the room making every pocket and corner cool. To sum up if you are crazy about the vintage air circulators and can afford to spend just for the sake of mental gratification without caring for the premium performance, then go ahead and enjoy the experience.
