Village Square Buffet at the Horseshoe Casino in Shreveport , LA

Village Square Buffet at the Jack Binion’s Horseshoe Casino, Shreveport / Bossier City, LA – If you like a bit of everything, you will love this buffet, because they have EVERYTHING. Being a local resident has it’s advantages. If you carry a Horseshoe Membership card, every time you hit the slots, you earn points. When you earn these points, you get coupons in the mail. If I can remember correctly, you get a coupon for free buffet, when you buy one for $10. That is what, approximately $13 for two people to enjoy this huge variety of food. I can honestly say of all the times I went there, there was hardly ever any complaints on their food whatsoever.

Now the wait is another story, but it is worth the wait. You basically stand in one line if you carry a coupon. You stand in a much shorter line if you want to pay $20+ for your own buffet. If you are bringing kids (OH they eat FREE) it can be an extremely aggravating wait. I believe the longest wait was about an hour and a half. You stand the entire time. There is no taking your name and having you take a seat, to wait for your name to be called.

When you finally make it to the register and pay for your buffet, you are seated by the host or hostess. According to La. law there is no longer any smoking allowed in a restaurant, and I believe that it is like that here as well. Your drinks are brought to you. You pay for liquor.

Walking toward the food, you will see a large round salad area. They have fresh vegetables and a wide variety of cold meats, cheeses, dressings. There are a variety of salads to choose from, such as potato and Cesar. You will also find a large bowl of fresh huge boiled shrimp for a shrimp cocktail.

When you have had your fill on salads, make your way to the meats. Now when I go to a buffet, I tend to get the same kind of foods, ha ha. I know what I like and tend to stick with it. For instance, I love Bourbon Street chicken. Village Square has the most delicious Bourbon St. chicken. It’s tender and there is not too much sauce and it isn’t too overwhelming of a flavor. It’s just right. I also go for the stir fried fresh green beans. These are also good at Village Square because they aren’t too overdone and soggy and they aren’t too crunchy. Plus they have just enough soy sauce and not too much olive oil. I do not recommend their meatloaf at all. For one it is either dry or too greasy. They have good roast, because it seems there is no grease and it is very tender.

If you are like me, I am not much into sweets, as far as cake and cookies go. On the other hand, fresh fruits are always something I look forward to. Oh and never ever forget the chocolate. At Village Square you will find fondues. YUMMY. If I didn’t care about maintaining my weight, I would go there for just strawberries and CHOCOLATE fondue. There is white and milk chocolate. I love chocolate covered strawberries. The fruits are delicious. I love fresh pineapple and strawberries with cool whip. They have the good cool whip too. Sometimes I like a good hot chocolate chip cookie, so that is a special treat as well.

These are just a few items that I found good. There are tons more such as seafood, and many meats. Hey, and if you get a card and accumulate points, you can earn free buffets. Don’t have too much fun without me…
