Tylenol’s Rapid Release Tablets Live Up to the Hype

It’s not often I review a product I have not used personally. But, after witnessing first hand just how fast the new Tylenol Extra Strength Rapid Release Gel Tablets work, I just had to tell the world about them.

This past weekend, my wife developed a really bad kidney infection. Even though she’s on an antibiotic, it does nothing to help her with the pain associated with the ailment.

Saturday night, she woke up in the middle of the night in extreme pain and was flailing around the bed hardly able to breath.

Having experienced something similar a few years ago, I did my best to help her get comfortable. We tried walking her around the house a bit, put a pillow under her side to provide some counter pressure (that was the only way I could sleep for a week) and I even thought about taking her to the local hospital emergency room.

We had some pain killers around the house, including Tylenol and Advil but all of those usually take about 30 minutes to an hour to start working and I honestly didn’t think she would be able to tolerate the pain that long. I was about to wake up our daughter so I could take my wife to the hospital when I remembered a free sample of the Rapid Release tablets we had received a couple of days earlier. Figuring we had nothing to lose, I gave those to her instead.

I am absolutely amazed with how fast they worked. It wasn’t instantly but it was darn close. I’m guessing 15 minutes hadn’t even passed before she started feeling a bit better and, within 20 minutes the pain was gone and she was able to fall back to sleep. In fact, she was able to go to work the next morning.

I’m not exactly sure how they work (the box says something about small holes in the tablets that allow the medicine to release faster) but I’m convinced the Tylenol Rapid Release tablets are a great innovation. In fact, I went to the store the next morning and paid $2 more for the brand name rather than take a chance on the generic version. Not only do they work fast, their effect lasts a long time; my wife can usually go 6-7 hours in between doses. In fact, she has been recommending it to all her friends and co-workers.

Leave it to Tylenol to come up with such a great product.
