Top Ten R&B; Songs of 2006

2006 ended up being a pretty decent year for R&B; music. There were romantic love songs that made you want to get your slow grind on and up tempo songs that made you want to hit the dance floor. This is my list of the top ten R&B; songs for 2006.
Number ten is Bossy by Kelis from the album Kelis Was Here. Bossy features rap artist Two Short. This catchy single can be interpreted as a woman who handles her business in all areas of her life.

The number nine song is S.E.X. by Lyfe Jennings off of his sophomore album The Phoenix. S.E.X. is a song that talks about teens being pressured to lose their virginity. Jennings was able to create a good song with an important message.

The number eight song is SexyBack by Justin Timberlake from the album FutureSex/LoveSounds. With the help of producer Timbaland, SexyBack quickly became a number one hit on Billboard for Timberlake. This song has a different sound than Timberlake’s previous work because his voice is altered, which gives SexyBack its unique sound.

The number seven song is In My Mind by Heather Headley from the album with the same title. In My Mind is about a person who still has strong feeling for an ex-love. This first single help In My Mind become certified Gold.

The number six song is Enough Cryin by Mary J. Blige from the album The Breakthrough. With Enough Cryin Blige was able to showcase her rapping alter ego Brook. Enough Cryin is about a woman fed up with being treated badly in her relationship and she is not going to take it anymore.

The number five song is Sexy Love by Ne-Yo from his debut album In My Own Words. Sexy Love is a song that definitely will get people in a romantic mood.

The number four song is Say Goodbye by Chris Brown from his debut album Chris Brown. Say Goodbye is a nice slow jam that gives Brown a chance to showcase his vocal skills. Say Goodbye is Brown’s third top ten Billboard single from his debut album.

The number three song is Torn by Letoya from her debut album Letoya. Torn proved that there is life after Destiny’s Child. Using a sample from You Are Everything by The Stylistics, Torn is a song about a person deciding to stay with or leave their lover.

The number two song is Be Without You by Mary J. Blige from the album The Breakthrough. Be Without You was the first single off The Breakthrough and is one of the reasons that The Breakthrough went Platinum. Be Without You spent fifteen consecutive weeks at number one on the Hot R&B;/Hip Hop Songs chart, which made it the most successful release in the history of that particular chart.

The number one song is So Sick by Ne-Yo from the album In My Own Words. So Sick is about a guy who is sick of hearing love songs on the radio, because they remind him of his ex-girlfriend. So Sick top the Billboard Hot 100.

You could not turn on your radio without hearing one of these R&B; hits. These artist showed that R&B; music is as strong as ever, and will continue to be strong in the future.
