Many people visit Peru for a chance to see world famous sites like Machu Picchu or to visit the rainforests of the Amazon. But what many tourists don’t consider is taking the time to visit Peru’s beautiful beaches. Peru is blessed with a desert coastline that meets up with an ocean that offers both beauty and abundance. If you’re taking a trip to Peru, try to find time to visit one of Peru’s best beaches.

1. Mancora and Las Pocitas – Mancora is one of Peru’s most popular beaches, called by some the “Hawaii of Peru.” Over the last few years, the beach has become a top hot spot for the international surfing scene. From December through March – the Peruvian summer – the beaches’ famous swells attract large crowds from all walks of life. The town of Mancora is also known for its laid-back, bohemian atmosphere.

2. Puerto Inca – Considered by many to be the most beautiful beach in southern Peru, the beach is formed by a pair of small bays. The beaches are clean and calm, perfect for travel with children. It also offers excellent fishing and diving.

3. Bahía Honoratos – This beach, found on the coast of Arequipa, really stands out for its beautiful sandy beaches. Just to the south, visit Hornillos, where you can catch sight of the abundant local wildlife.

4. Punta Sal – Featuring white sandy beaches, Punta Sal is the place to go to enjoy the best in Peruvian seafood. Fishing and diving are popular activities as well as surfing the big waves on the northern part of the point.

8. El Paraiso – The name of this peninsula says it all – Paradise. This clean and tranquil beach provides great fishing and intense sun during the summer.

9. Chepeconde – Over the last couple of decades, this beautiful beach has become one of the top camping spots south of Lima. The beach consists of fine white sand and the waters are clean and clear.

10. Paracas – Paracas is without a doubt one of the most spectacular parts of the Peruvian coastline. You’ll find plenty of activities like surfing, windsurfing and diving, as well as the opportunity to get some fabulous photographs of the local wildlife which includes sea lions and Humboldt penguins.
