Top Five Audio Recording Studio Programs

If you’re interested in breaking into the music industry today, you have to be aware that the times have changed. Today, the majority of professionals use music notation software to track out there productions. With so many different software to choose from it can be very time consuming and frustrating deciding on which interface to use. Today I’m going to give you my top five audio recording software suites.

The first thing you need to think about when purchasing music notation software is the type of computer that you own. If you’re on a Mac, I would suggest investing in the Logic software and becoming comfortable with. It may take you a long time to master all of the functions but I assure you that this is the most professional software there is for the Mac. When it comes to having a Windows based computer, there are a lot of options for software. It all depends on what you need to get accomplished but I will give you my professional advice on what to purchase.

1. For the professional with the big budget, I would advise you to invest in the full version of Pro Tools. Unfortunately, Pro Tools is a software that can only run when it is assisted by hardware units. With that being said, the Pro Tools setup can cost you up to $20,000 but you can get started with the LE version for around three grand. Many people have a controversial standpoint in regards to the Pro tools software because it claims to be the best software available. In my personal circle, many producers do not use Pro tools software for the actual beat making process. But at the end of the day, they have to use Pro tools to track the records and record the vocals because it is the professional standard in the majority of studios in the United States. So the question is really not if Pro tools is the best software, you have to come to the realization that if you want to be a professional producer you need the software in your database.

2. The second program is would choose would have to be Cubase SX for its versatility. Cubase is a premium software which contains all of the software needs that you need to create quality production. On top of that, it allows you to integrate plug-ins into the software which makes the possibility for optimization limitless. With Cubase, you can produce the beat, record the vocals and mix all in one interface.

3. I would have to surprise a lot of music veterans and go with Fruity Loops Studio for my third choice. Although many people have controversy over the use of the software, is very good for sample based music. When it comes to splitting samples, creating drum patterns and tracking melodies, they have created the easiest interface to get acquainted with. It also responds quickly, as is does not use as much memory as its counterparts. With the right plug-ins and samples, FL Studio can be a force to reckon with.

4. Next, I would choose Reason software for its globalized library of well known sounds and powerful synthesizers. Reason software comes in a package where it affords you all the tools you need to create great music. The only downfall of reason software is its inability to accept plug-ins from any other software. That can be a hindrance, especially when you have a hunger for new sounds. With that being said, Reason is a great piece of software on its own and I would highly recommend it for the process of making beats. If you are looking for software to record vocals then you may want to weigh your other options.

5. If you prefer working with MIDI functions over hardware keyboards, the Sonar sudio interface is a great asset. It works along with Sony Acid for creating loop based music, which is very popular with rap and techno. The software is very versatile and it leaves a lot of room for customization.

All of these software programs deserve to be first on a list, but you have to decide which works best for you and your musical needs. When you think about musical software, think about the difference genres of music. To place one above the other in general is relative. Music is about your own artistic interpretation and appreciation. These tools only help you to track those ideas out. Take a look at all the software and figure out what’s best for you.
