1. Down– Jay Sean featuring Lil’ Wayne
Jay Sean is one of the hottest artists to come out in 2009. He’s a talented singer/songwriter/producer/etc./etc. from the United Kingdom and is of Asian descent–so that makes him even hotter, am I right, ladies? Down topped the Billboard Hot 100 and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. His new single, Do you Remember, has been a popular hit on the airwaves as well.

2. Replay– Iyaz
Iyaz has one of those voices that makes you melt and dance at the same time. He’s a classically trained musician from the British Virgin Islands who’s debut single topped the Billboard Top 40 charts. With star-studded company like Sean Kingston on his side, he’ll be coming out with plenty more hits in the coming year.

3. Watcha Say– Jason DeRulo
Jason DeRulo’s hit Watcha Say seems to strike a chord in everyone. Maybe because it’s message focuses on a universal theme of relationships and forgiveness. It’s a great song that everyone can relate to.

4. Fireflies– Owl City
Owl City has been under the radar for a long time now. Luckily, in 2009 their hit single Fireflies has skyrocketed them into pop music royalty. Their smooth and unique sound blended with electronic beats is a refreshing addition to what’s on the airwaves now.

5. Bad Romance- Lady GaGa
It was hard choosing which of Lady GaGa’s plethora of hits this year should grace this list. But, after much thought, Bad Romance seemed like a perfect choice for it’s combination of hip dance beats, cool choreography in the video, and there’s even some French lyrics in there for you for some added culture. Lady GaGa is truly this year’s Pop Queen Diva.

6. Empire State of Mind– Alicia Keys featuring Jay-Z
I’ve never been to New York, but listening to this song makes me feel like I’m walking down Times Square eating a slice of thin crust cheese! It’s catchy and the chorus makes you really want to dance. Alicia Keyes has always put out mega-hits and this one is a masterpiece.

7. You Belong with Me– Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has had a wonderful year full of accolades, awards, and hit songs. She even got her Grammy nominations which will surely reap a few trophies to add to her shelf. Like many of her other songs, You Belong with Me hits a chord in many girls hearts who’ve been plagued with unrequited love. It makes you wonder how many boys Taylor Swift has coveted from afar! I’m sure the tables are turned around now.

8. Use Somebody– Kings of Leon
Something about this song really gets to you and you catch yourself singing it in the car at the top of your lungs. Kings of Leon is actually a family band comprised of three brothers and their cousin. From humble beginnings and initial success in the UK, the band has now proven that they deserve to be on the radar for their alternative pop rock stylings.

9. Already Gone– Kelly Clarkson
Remember when Kelly Clarkson was just a southern girl trying out for American Idol? Now look at her! Her single Already Gone is a heartbreaking ballad about letting go of someone you know you don’t belong with, but still have some feelings for. Her soulful voice really adds gusto to this beautiful song.

10. Love Drunk- Boys Like Girls
This song is just plain fun. It makes you want to dance, laugh, and throw your drink into someone’s face that’s offended you in some way. Okay, maybe not that last one, but Love Drunk is a testament to how crazy we all can get when we first meet someone and think that they are the “one” until they foul things up and makes you wonder, “What was I thinking?!”
