Top 10 Classic Disney Movies

As a former Disney employee, I have seen children’s eyes spark with delight around certain shows and character greetings. By working with major characters like Buzz Lightyear and Aladdin, I’ve created my top 10 classic children’s movies strictly from my Disney College Program experience.

10. Hercules (1997)- Hercules is an underdog who makes it big. He is a worshipped hero, who falls in love and has multiple adventures fighting Hades’ evil plans. Everyone loves a hero!

9. Pocahontas (1996) Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? This movie represents the differences between cultures and shows children past ways of living.

8. Up (2009)- Adventure is out there! Children love hearing about adventures. Up portrays an elderly man who takes on his wild side, by traveling in his flying house supported by balloons.

7. Finding Nemo (2003)- An adventure undersea takes to the shore as a silly clownfish, Marlin, rescues his son. With memorable seagulls, speaking whales, and jellyfish, your children will not take their eyes off of the screen. Can you find Nemo?

6. The Princess and the Frog (2009)- This is the first Disney movie with a black princess! It will forever be in history as a classic charming success story. Watch as Tiana falls in love and discovers how hard work pays off.

5. Beauty and the Beast (1991)- Who can resist a tale as old as time? Children recognize this adventurous love story and cannot take their eyes away from the songs, the laughter, and the battle between humans and abstract characters!

4. Aladdin (1992)- Like every brilliant Disney movie, adventure and romance intrigue your children more than ever. Flying carpets and dazzling caves attract the young minds of the nation who are bewildered by this hilarious thrilling ride. Sometimes if you visit Aladdin and Jasmine at Disney World, you might get the chance to take a picture with Genie too!

3. The Little Mermaid (1989)- Every child dreams of swimming under the ocean. This good versus evil movie gives children their first glance of life under the sea. Walt Disney World’s meet and greet with Princess Ariel will always be a ship long wait, but well worth it.

2. The Lion King (1994)- This storyline is one of many known worldwide. There are Broadway productions in many cities, as well as a daily show in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Children recognize and adore this movie instantly because of the African animals that speak, the exciting music, and the adventurous story.

1. Toy Story (1995) As for my number one pick, I have seen first hand the love of this classic. I have attended the character line for Buzz and Woody in my college program at Walt Disney World. Parents, teenagers, little Jesse’s and little Buzz Lightyear’s are constantly roaming the WDW parks with a Toy Story passion. It is a highly celebrated movie around the world and will always be a favorite classic children’s movie.

Don’t expect to watch these movies any less than ten times a day with your child!
