TomTom Rider 2 GPS Navigator

The TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator for motorcycles is a second generation of a heads up turn by turn navigation systems specifically for both scooters and motorcycles. The first tom-tom Rider GPS navigator had some known issues for the touchscreen be coming unusable after a bit of exposure to the elements. However after a redesign of the way that the touchscreen works on the tom-tom rider to GPS navigator those issues are now a thing of the past.

While the idea of having a 4 inch screen to you give you a turn by turn directions on your motorcycle just like you typically have in your car nowadays, seems appealing, I sometimes found it hard to pay attention to the traffic going on around me as I rode through busier city streets while trying to pay attention to the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator for motorcycles and scooters. Another thing that I didn’t care much for was the fact that the cost was nearly 3 times that of an in car model that had the identical features. Obviously the cost would be higher as it needs to be a little bit more rugged, however they could have upgraded the software included to make it a bit more motorcycle relevant.

The TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator did have one of the clearest displays I’ve ever seen on a GPS device, however it featured the same graphics that you have in your car which I felt could have been done a little bit better as the time that you have to look at your navigator is much shorter on a motorcycle. That is not to say that I disliked everything about the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator, quite the contrary I found some features to be extremely good.

While the features I liked best about the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator is the fact that you can quickly tap the screen and tell it that you would like to find a local restaurant for instance and it will give you a list of restaurants either by proximity, or even buy food type. This made being in a strange city incredibly relaxing, not to mention we were able to find some truly a hidden treasures as far as dining went.

Another thing that I found was quite handy with the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator was the time until arrival feature which tells you how long you have a go at the current speed you’re going to get to your destination. This made the long drives seem not so bad, and helps avoid stopping just before your destination to use the restroom for instance. All in all I think the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator is a great addition to any motorcycle as long as you keep in mind that there are potential safety hazards with using the GPS system.

Originally priced at $700 the TomTom Rider 2 GPS navigator can now be had for anywhere from around $350-$400 depending on where you shop I purchased my GPS navigator from Amazon.com and was happy with the shipping and customer service I received.
