Toddler Classroom Bulletin Board Ideas for Summer

Most traditional schools are not in session in the summer but preschool and toddler classrooms often continue all summer and teachers are looking for summer fun bulletin board ideas. Summer toddler bulletin boards should be simple and yet attractive. Toddler bulletin boards should have a cute message to bring a smile to parent’s faees and as with all bulletin boards, most of the artwork should be the toddler’s artwork and not the teachers.

“There’s something FISHY going on in the toddler room.”

Fish are a summer fun bulletin board idea and a “something fishy” bulletin board is catchy and cute. To create this summer bulletin board cut out fish shapes for each toddler. Cover the table and set out those paper plates with sponges and just a touch of paint. Have those wipes ready for messy little hands and have those cameras ready for those smiling faces. Toddlers love a chance to sponge paint or finger paint.

Once the fish are dry, simply add big wiggly eyes and your school of fish will come to life. Cut out circle “bubbles” to write each word of “There’s something FISHY going on in the toddler room.”

“We’re having a BALL in the toddler room this summer.”

Beach balls are fun to play with in the toddler room and a beach ball bulletin board is colorful and cute too. Cover the background of the bulletin board with the inside of brown paper grocery bags to create the beach. Cut out large circles for each child to sponge paint, brush paint or finger paint on their beach ball. You can divide the ball into segments with a black marker to make it really look like a beach ball if you’d like.

Create a paper sand bucket to carry the phrase “We’re having a BALL in the toddler room this summer.” Be sure to talk about the shape circle and the colors while you’re decorating your toddler bulletin board.

“One flag, two flags, red, white and blue flags.”

To create a July bulletin board in honor of the fourth of July, I like to make a play on the words of the favorite children’s author Dr. Seuss who wrote about “one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.” Start with a large rectangle for each child. Let the toddlers pat, pat, pat down a blue square onto the corner. Let toddlers add stick on foam stars or even their painted handprints onto the blue square. Now it is time to role model painting red stripes. Show them and help them feel what it is like to paint a stripe and then sit back and let them do their own thing. Toddler’s flags shouldn’t look like Martha Washington’s flags.

Add the toddler flags and one flag with your “One flag, two flags, red, white and blue flags,” title and your classroom is all decorated for the fourth of July.
