Tillicum Village – Blake Island, Washington

There are many attractions to see and experience both in and around the Seattle area and a visit to Tillicum Village is at the top of the list. Tillicum Village is located on Blake Island in the middle of the Puget Sound. Blake Island is 475 acres of land mass with five miles of beach shoreline and home to a variety of wild life. Tillicum Village is located on the northeast end of the Island. The only way to access the island is by boat. What is Tillicum Village? Tillicum Village is a chance to experience the Northwest Coast Indian arts, culture, and food. Tillicum village features a unique, informative and exciting dining experience unlike any other.

Argosy cruise lines offers packages to Tillicum Village that include the cruise, a Native American-inspired dance show and a salmon bake buffet. The 4-hour adventure begins with a narrated cruise on Puget Sound to Blake Island. As you step from the vessel onto the sandy beach front you will make our way up the shell strewn path to Tillicum village.

Once there you will be greeted with an appetizer of clams in nectar. Then the dining experience begins with the salmon buffet which includes alder baked salmon being cooked on cedar stakes over an alder-wood fire in the traditional northwest coast Indian style. The buffet also includes northwest stew, wild grain harvest rice, warm whole grain Tillicum bread, field greens salad, tri-colored bean salad, fresh fruit salad and a northwest dessert.

As you near the end of your meal sit back, relax and prepare yourself for the myth and magic that comes to life as the Native American-inspired dance show begins. Dressed in colorful outfits the Tillicum Village dancers begin to perform an inspirational and mesmerizing show that shares the customs, beliefs and dances of the Northwest Coast Indians. After the spellbinding show has ended, enjoy the free time to explore the beautiful grounds of the island before boarding the ship for the cruise back to Seattle.
