Tide Laundry Detergent Vs. Cheer Laundry Detergent

Laundry is everyone’s problem. At least once a week, there’s that pile of clothes staring at you, waiting to be thrown in the washing machine. There’s grass stains, and grease stains, and who-knows-what stains. And though at first glance it may not seem like such a chore, laundry is an ongoing battle. So what do we use to make it just a little easier on ourselves? Walking down the aisle of any grocery store, you are presented with a myriad of choices for laundry detergent. Just looking at all the different brand names on the shelf may already seem like a chore in itself. I have narrowed it down to two – Tide and Cheer liquid laundry detergent.

Tide Liquid claims to have 3 times the stain removal power for about twenty-five cents a load. It is specially formulated to prevent shadowy stains from appearing in fabrics. And of course, as they say, it helps whiten whites and keeps colors bright. Tide Liquid does come in a variety of scents including: Clean Breeze, Mountain Spring, Tropical Clean, and Free. Tide Liquid Free is available for those who do not wish to add any scent to their clothes. There is also Tide Brightlock which is found in Tide Liquid with Bleach Alternative and involves specially formulated color care properties. Tide Liquid is available in six different sizes ranging from 50 oz. to 300 oz.

Cheer Liquid laundry detergent contains Cheer Colorguard which involves color-care technologies to prevent fading in your fabrics. It does this by compensating for the negative effects of chlorine in tap water, which is what causes fabrics to fade. To add to this terrific color-boosting is Cheer Dark Formula which has the same color protection and cleaning powers but also has a specifically developed formula to prevent pilling and fuzz on dark garments. Cheer Liquid comes in five different sizes also ranging from 50 oz. to 300 oz.

When comparing these products, I found that price was not a factor as they are both equally priced and you use equal amounts of detergent for what you need to use in each load.

After using both of these products, I have found Cheer Liquid to be the better of the two. I liked that it actually did seem to keep my clothes brighter over a prolonged period of use and I liked that the company had a special formula for my darks as I often have my darks coming out of the machine looking “fuzzy.” Although you will need to purchase an additional bottle of laundry detergent for these dark clothes, I found the difference to be nonexistent. I’m using additional laundry detergent anyways the more loads of clothes I need to wash and this way, the original Cheer Liquid which I use for whites lasts longer. It balances itself out. To obtain the same color protection with Tide, you will need to purchase a specially designed formula. Cheer offers this protection in all its formulas. I found that Cheer was a much more effective pre-treater for stain removal and that it did not leave the “shadowy stains” Tide Liquid boasts about removing. Tide Liquid promises nothing that Cheer Liquid does not and Cheer Liquid offers more than Tide.

Tide does come in one more additional size than Cheer and it does offer a wider variety of scents. However, options such as fragrance or what sizes I had to choose from don’t matter to me when I’m standing in front of that pile of dirty clothes and I’m wishing that something could make this chore just a little easier. Cheer makes laundry easy and for me, that’s the bottom line.
