Things to Do in Grenada, the Ideal Caribbean Getaway

Grenada is the Caribbean’s land of spice, better known as “Spice Island”. Grenada is one of the world’s number one growers of nutmeg, mace, ginger, clove, cocoa, and cinnamon. If anyone has ever went on a Caribbean cruise Grenada should be one of their major stops. Grenada has so many things to see, eat and do that you will not be bored at all. In this article I will go over the things to do and see in Grenada and give you some insight on the island as well.

Grenada’s scent of spice is a feast for your senses. The scents engulf everything from the hills, forests, houses and beaches. Grenada is a very small island in the Caribbean’s located in the middle of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Some other islands that surround Grenada are Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, and Dominica. In 1983 Grenada was intervened by the United States Military. Now a few decades later Grenada is one of the most popular vacation spots in the world. There is so much to do in Grenada like eating the many spiced up foods, exploring the amazing beaches, splashing into the huge waterfalls, seeing the beautiful flowers and plants, and so on.

We will know go over the many things you can see and do in Grenada. The first things to do when you’re In Grenada are to visit the amazing Fort Frederick, Grand Etang Crater Lake, and Annandale Falls.

Fort Fredrick – This is a fort that was built in the in the 1700s, it is an amazing Fortress. This fort gives you a great view of the town and harbor.

Grand Etang Crater Lake – This is a lake that is located in an extinct volcano. This lake grows many things that you can see as you are passing such as groves of banana, cocoa, nutmeg, and so on.

Annandale Falls – This is a beautiful waterfall that is surrounded by many amazing flowers, plants and ferns.

The next place to go for a refreshing drink, a swim, and some relaxation would be Grand Anse Beach.

Grand Anse Beach – This is one of the biggest and most beautiful beaches in all of Grenada.

If you would like to see how spices are grown and processed you can visit the Doulgadston Spice Estate. You can also purchase spices at the Doulgadston Spice Estate.

The Doulgadston Spice Estate – Shows you how nutmeg, mace, cocoa, and other spices are processed by being dried in the sun.

For those of you who like to drink this next destination will be perfect for you. The Westerhall Rum Estate shows you how some of the best Rum is made

The Westerhall Rum Estate – This is a family owned estate which processes a special blend of Rum. The Rum is made the old-fashioned way using machinery from many years ago. You will be given a tour of how the machines work and an overview of the blending process. When it is all over you do get a special treat a sample drink of the finest Rum on the island.

Now for some more treats for your taste buds there’s the amazing gardens and farms.

La Grenade Industries – This is a farm where you can sample many tasty treats. Some of the foods you can sample are jams, jellies, nutmeg syrup, and amazing nutmeg liqueur and rum punch.
Laura Herb and Spice Garden – This garden has medicinal herbs, exotic flowers, spices, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon. You get a chance to see how the spices are processed and then packaged in the factory.

La Sagresse Farm – This is a farm which has many fruits and spices as well. On this farm the islands juices are created. You get to see how all the amazing juices are made and then get to sample these exotic drinks.

There is an amazing waterfall that is a must see on your vacation in Grenada. This waterfall is called the Seven Sisters Falls.

The Seven Sister Fall – is a 45-minute hike but once it’s over you will be so very amazed. This waterfall has many things that surround it such as protruding rocks, roots, and streams. There is also tropical flora such as strangler vines, nutmeg trees, heliconias, and ginger lilies. The falls are two waterfalls that are falling into each other. It is a very amazing and wonderful sight that everyone should see at least once. You can swim in this waterfall also because there are many rock pools.

The final adventure we will cover in this article is the sea life of Grenada. There are many ways to see the sea life of Grenada one of the first ways is to kayak. This kayaking is amazing because it lets you see the underwater without getting wet. The kayak has a clear bottom which you can see the entire underwater life trough and not get wet. Grenada also offers three unique features for underwater fun such as snorkeling, and scuba diving. These two adventures get you close and personal with the underwater world.

Grenada Snorkeling – The snorkeling adventures are done along the tropical coastline. Beginners will snorkel along the shallow waters of the bay. The experienced will snorkel along the deeper reefs of the bay. In the reefs you will find finger, brain, star, and some amazing stands of pillar coral. This is also an amazing habitat for trumpet fish, parrot fish, sergeant majors, and butterfly fish.

Grenada Scuba Diving – The scuba diving is done along the shallow coral reefs of Grenada. In these waters you will find colorful sponges, sea fans, hard corals, and pillar coral. Some fish that are seen are angel fish, chromis, parrot fish, and grunts.

Grenada is an amazing vacation spot for you and your family. It is not very expensive and offers many fun things to do and explore. I really recommend Grenada as your next vacation getaway.
