Theme Parks in New York

There are many fun and family oriented amusement parks in New York. All the parks have a section just for kids. The amusement parks may hold special events and reservations for birthday parties. While the summer is approaching be prepared for lines to take a ride at one of the parks listed below.

Coney Island is one of the oldest amusement parks that has become a tourist attraction. Coney Island have independent theme parks that are within walking distance. Deno’s Wonder Wheel park had a large Ferris wheel and with many fun games. Luna Park is known for its famous Cyclone roller coaster that was built in 1927 and the Scream Zone. Luna Park categorizes their rides by mild, moderate and high thrills. Mild rides like the speed boat would swing you around on at a low level, where as, the moderate rides like the Balloon Expedition would swing you around high above the ground in an air balloon, and the high thrill has the air race where you can glide in the air at high speeds. There is also the New York Aquarium where you can see exotic fishes and a show. You can also relax at the beach or take a stroll on the boardwalk. Rye Playland in upstate New York located in Port Chester county off of I-95 North at exit 19. The park has a Kiddyland area for children. Kids can ride on the kiddy coaster, fun ride, swing around or take a boat ride. The family and group rides seat more than one person so patrons can ride together in the House of Mirrors to see themselves change shape, the Gondola Ride has scenic view of the park, bumper cars, skateboard ride and a family coaster. The park does have thrill rides, where you must between 52 to 56 inches. For the thrill rides there is the Playland Plunge water ride, Double Shot vertical ride that drops, and the Wipeout that spins you around at fast speeds.

Adventureland is located on Long Island off of route 110 has four fun attractions: thrill rides; kids and family; children rides; and water rides. The park has kid rides like the spinning cars and swings, the thrill rides has a roller coaster and bumping cars, family rides has a Ferris wheel and Lady Bug Coaster. There is also Adventure Fall and Crocodile Run, so bring your bathing suits or trunks.

Splish Splash is a water park located on Long Island off of Route 25 or 27, when traveling on I-495. Patrons can enjoy the Kahuna Bay wave pool where you can surf, there is a Giant Twister that takes you through three water waves while sliding towards the pool and Mammoth River where the family travels down a river in a raft. The park also has water area for small children and a bird show.

Funzone is an indoor and outdoor amusement park. With over two hundred rides and games, guests will enjoy themselves. Funzone has classic and futuristic rides. The game zone is filled with many arcades. Some of the games offer tickets for playing that can be turned in for prizes.

Seabreeze has many thrill rides including Jack Rabbit roller coaster that was built in 1920. There is more fun with the Bobsled coaster and the Whirlwind that spins in the air. As its name applies, Seabreeze does have a cool spot. If you get tired of rides and want to relax there is Raging Rivers waterpark.

Children rides require them to be 36 inches, medium level rides moving above ground level have a height requirement of 42 to 48 inches, and high level thrill rides has a height requirement of 48 to 56 inches.
