The Six Best Floral Perfumes

As anyone who loves the smell of flowers knows, finding the perfect floral perfume is not easy. Most smell nothing like flowers; many have an overwhelming chemical smell, and some that do manage to get the floral scent right have no staying power. But you really don’t have to spend years sneezing your way to the perfect floral fragrance concoction. I’ve already done the work for you, and though my nose might have suffered, the higher calling of finding the perfect floral scents has been worth it. Here are the six best floral fragrances I have found, along with links to places you can buy them.

French Lilac by Pacifica
Lilac is a difficult fragrance to imitate, but this lovely perfume has accomplished that seemingly impossible task. This is a simple, one-note fragrance that starts out smelling like a powdery lilac and then simply smells like a lilac in full bloom. If you like very natural fragrances with natural ingredients, this is a great choice. It doesn’t have a chemical smell at all, and Pacifica prides itself on keeping unnecessary and potentially harmful ingredients out of their products. I’ve heard some people complain about the perfume’s staying power, but I think this depends on your body chemistry; it lasts all day with no problem for me. You can by French Lilac here.

Victoria’s Secret Lace Orange Flower
I’ve noticed a trend in fragrances in recent years: the simple, elegant perfumes don’t tend to do well commercially when pitted against heavy scents, and this perfume has been recently discontinued. Fortunately, it’s still available all over the web, including here. This is a multi-note floral with a more sophisticated, “grown up” scent than some other floral fragrances. It’s a perfect evening fragrance choice.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs
This wonderful fragrance comes in a beautiful bottle, and if you’re a romantic like me, a beautiful perfume bottle is a strong selling point. This multi-note fragrance smells primarily like honeysuckle then fades to a gardenia and jasmine blend. You can find it here.

Korres Jasmine
This is not, technically speaking, a perfume and only comes in lotions and shower gels. The lotion, however, is so fragrant that it functions well as a perfume, and I keep hoping Korres will eventually make it in perfume form. Bath and Body Works Butterfly Flower
This is a “young” smelling fragrance, perfect for women in their twenties or the young at heart. It smells like honeysuckles or lilies and Bath and Body works sells a variety of matching lotions and body care products to compliment the perfume. You can find it here.

Le Jasmin by Annick Goutal
This perfume seems to smell slightly different every time I smell it. Sometimes it smells like a simple, one-note Jasmine bouquet and other times it has scents of citrus and musk. Excellent staying power, and a good price for a fine perfume. You can find it here.
