The Pharos GPS Phone – Now Available for a Discounted Price at T-Mobile

Pharos Science and Applications, Inc., a location-based information and services company, has announced that they will be partnering with T-Mobile USA to give Pharos customers a $200 discount on the company’s award-winning Pharos GPS Phone 600 and 600e. The discount will only be available when the phones are purchased with a new T-Mobile Contract. In effect, Pharos will become a T-Mobile reseller which allows the company to sign up new T-Mobile subscribers at Pharos’ website.

The GPS Phone 600 is a Quadband GSM phone that operates on 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz networks. It runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 platform and has a Samsung SC32442 400 MHz processor, 128 MB of ROM and 64MB of RAM memory, a 2.8 inch TFT LCD touch screen display, 2 megapixel camera with flash, an RDS FM radio, built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g LAN, Bluetooth 2.0, and an expandable micro SD slot. The battery is a rechargeable 1530 mAh Li-ion Polymer which, according to the company specification sheet, can deliver up to 5 hours of talk time and 106 hours of stand-by time. As the name suggests, the Pharos GPS Phone 600 also has a built-in SiRFstarIII, 20 channels, WASS enabled GPS receiver.

According to Pharos, the The GPS Phone 600 has a powerful combination of navigation, entertainment and mobile office features since it comes with pre-installed applications such as Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The GPS Phone 600 also has the Pharos Ostia navigation software with preloaded maps of the US and Canada. Entertainment options for the phone include a 2 megapixel camera, Windows Media Player and an FM radio. Pharos also included different travel applications on the GPS Phone 600.

The Pharos GPS Phone 600e on the other hand is an enterprise version of the GPS Phone 600. The GPS Phone 600e is a smart phone that can provide web-based navigation through Windows Mobile Live Search and also has multimedia options and productivity suites that can integrate with Microsoft Exchange Server. The only difference between the GSP Phone 600 and 600e is that the 600e doesn’t come with the Pharos navigation software, maps, and car kit.

The retail price of the Pharos GPS Phone 600 is $699.95 while the GPS Phone 600e costs $599.95. If customers purchase the phones through T-Mobile with a two year voice and data plan, they will get a $200 discount which will bring the price of the GPS Phone 600 and 600e to $499.95 and $399.95, respectively.
