The Biography of Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin was born on December 24, 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His birth name is
“Enrique Martin Morales”. At the tender age of six years old, Martin’s good looks and talent won him acting gigs in television ads. While he attended school, he sang in his school choir and acted in several plays. The young Latino received singing and acting lessons, and, when he was just twelve, his good looks and singing talents again served him well. Martin earned a spot in the Puerto Rican singing group named “Menudo. Menudo was comprised of six handsome, teenage boys whose energetic Latino music made them quite popular among the youth across the globe.

Martin was the lead singer in the young group for the next five years. By that time, it was time to move on, and he performed his final concert with Menudo in the Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan. In 1989, he returned to his home town and finished his high school education.

The Latino pop singer then went on with a solo career in the music business. He released his first solo Spanish album in 1991. Ricky Martin earned eight gold records from that album alone. He recorded a second Spanish music album, then, he used his good looks and acting talents once again. In 1994, Martin won a part on TV’s ever-popular soap opera,”General Hospital.” He played a Puerto Rican singer named “Miguel Morez”.

After Ricky Martin left the cast of “General Hospital”, he played the role of “Marius” in “Les Miserables” on Broadway. After about a year’s time, Martin released yet a third album. It sold more than a half of a million copies. It was later certified gold in 1997.

Finally, after his three Spanish albums became huge successes, Martin he released his first English album. It was a self-titled album that featured the hit single, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” and
“She’s All I Ever Had.” This album finally cemented his stardom in America. The Puerto-Rican born music star had the honor of singing, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” live at the Grammy Awards. The album sold more than fifteen million copies.

The following year, Martin released his second English album. By this time, Martin was flying high in the top of his career, but, he was also tired. After years of singing and touring across the globe, Ricky Martin, the Latino heartthrob, quietly slipped away from the bright lights and the cameras and the throngs of fans who idolized him.

Ricky Martin took a long-overdue vacation, and he reportedly traveled to India to find inner peace and quiet. The young Latino singer also learned to skydive while he relaxed his body and gave his vocal chords a rest.

In 2001, Ricky Martin released yet another music album. But this time, he had reverted back to his Spanish roots. The album was titled, “La Historia”.

Two years later, Martin released another album, “Almas del Silencio”, (which translated, means ‘Sounds of Silence’), and his work hit Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. This album showed Martin’s maturity. Instead of the energetic, springy, hip swinging Latin pop songs he had grown up singing, this album contained quieter, more serious ballads.

In 2005, Martin released another music album titled simply, “Life”.
