The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread – Food Review

I readily admit that I love my bread. I could never in a million years go on any diet that restricts bread. I enjoy it toasted in the morning for breakfast, with my favorite deli meats for lunch and often have a slice of bread with my dinner in the evening. In an effort to eat healthier and improve our diets as a family, we have banned white bread from the house and have been enjoying trying out different varieties of rye, wheat and nut breads. One such bread we recently tried was The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread.

The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread cost $2.99 for a twenty ounce loaf. With whole grain loaves of bread costing close to four dollars or more in the supermarket, I found the price to be very appealing. Although you certainly can’t put a price on your family’s health and meeting their nutritional needs, I do have a weekly food budget that I need to adhere to and the price of The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread fit into my food budget quite nicely.

Each two ounce serving of The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread contains one hundred and twenty calories. Only point five grams of Fat are in each serving as well as zero grams of Saturated or Trans Fat. There is four grams of Dietary Fiber, six grams of Protein and six percent of the Daily Recommended Value of Iron in each serving. This bread certainly has much to offer as far as nutritional value goes, but how does it taste?

When I first tasted The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread, I immediately noticed the denseness of the bread. Although I have been enjoying rye bread for years, it was quite a different texture than I was used to. I first found the bread to be somewhat dry and immediately added more mustard to my sandwich to compensate for the dryness. The bread was tasty, albeit on the dry side.

After my second meal with The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread, the bread no longer seemed as dry and the filling quality of the bread really began to appeal to me. After a sandwich made with this bread and a piece of fruit, I was completely satisfied and stayed that way for a good long while. The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread’s denseness really keeps me quite full for hours.

Before long, I was quite pleased with this bread and now enjoy a slice without any butter when I feel a bit of hunger coming on in the afternoon before dinner. Previously used to eating bread far less heavy, my taste buds simply needed to readjust to this heavier type of bread. I now reach for The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread to make delicious toast in the morning, a tasty and satisfying sandwich for lunch and to round out dinner occasionally. I rate The Baker Whole Grain Rye Bread four out of five stars.
