Tassimo Brewer Review

The Bosch Tassimo brewer is a great home beverage brewer that not only makes coffee and espresso but teas, hot chocolate and even cappuccinos.

The Bosch Tassimo brewer is a unique and well built brewer that makes coffee, tea, hot chocolate, espresso and cappuccino very well with very little work and no messy cleanup. Simply place a Tassimo T Disc in the lock down lid and push the brewing button, the machine does the rest.

The Tassimo brewer has a tank that holds plenty of water as well as a smaller tank to use with a filter cartridge if you want to, the tank holds 76 ounces of water or less if you use the filter that fits into the larger removable tank. The front control button starts the brewing process and also has indicators for ready to brew, out of water and finished brewing.

The Tassimo model number TAS4511UC/01 is the brewer I received for reviewing and it works so very well for brewing coffee and other drinks. The reason I think this works a little better than other brewers for a fresh cup of coffee is how the T Discs are made compared to other brewers.

The Tassimo T Discs are available in plenty of coffee and other beverages with plenty of name brands like Seattle’s Best, Starbucks, Maxwell House and Gevalia. The T Discs are small plastic containers that hold the coffee grounds or drink concoction and a filter that holds the grounds in the disc.

This filter in the T Disc means a much better and less gritty coffee or espresso so you have a better cup of coffee which is made from some great coffees. The fact that a filter keeps the grounds out of the drink means you have a stop to the brewing process for less bitter coffee.

When grounds end up in the drink they continue to brew and can cause bitter coffee so using a filter that keeps grounds out of the drink is important. The Tassimo drinks available include espressos, hot chocolates, teas and even creamers for use with espresso to make cappuccino and latte drinks.

To make a hot chocolate they have filled the T Disc with a thick chocolate syrup for a great tasting hot chocolate like the ones I tried from Suchard. I also tried a couple of cappuccino drinks including a light cappuccino that I did not really enjoy but they did taste okay. The light creamer was not exactly as sweet and did taste like a light product that I really do not enjoy but the regular cappuccino was pretty good.

The Bosch Tassimo works well because it can regulate temperature and how much water goes through each T Disc according to the bar code on the T Disc when you place the disc into the machine. When you brew the machine reads the bar code and knows how much water to run through the T Disc as well as the time and temperature for each drink.

This perfect time and temperature means you get the best drink whether it’s a latte, cappuccino or just a plain coffee that really tastes good. Out of the two brewers I have reviewed so far the Tassimo makes a better tasting cup of coffee over the Keurig for a plain coffee.

The Keurig does have a few advantages over the Tassimo in that you can brew from your own grounds with the Keurig but not with the Tassimo. The Tassimo only brews from T Discs but they are readily available from stores and from the internet as well as directly from companies like Starbucks.

The cost comparison is about 50¢ to 60¢ a cup for the Tassimo while the Keurig is about 20¢ to 30¢ a cup but the Keurig can be less with a filter you can use with your own grounds. The Tassimo has no filter you can use so you are required to buy the premade T Discs from Tassimo and other companies.

I found that the coffee and other drinks really depend on the ones you try and not on the machine for both the Keurig and Tassimo. I enjoyed a couple of Starbucks coffees and one of the espressos for the Tassimo but did not really enjoy several of the coffees for both machines from some companies like Maxwell house and Gloria Jeans.

The Tassimo does a great job with the wide variety of drinks and makes a great at home brewer for a quick brew of your favorite drink. The Tassimo makes for a quick cleanup and does not make much of a mess while brewing except when brewing the milk products for the lattes and cappuccinos.

I found the machine is easy to use and makes for a quick clean up with a simple wipe in the brewing T Disc area as well as being able to remove the plastic plate the T Disc sits on. You may have to clean off the window for the bar code reader occasionally with a rag or even Q Tips but it was not necessary for me with the 40-50 cups of beverages I put the review unit through.

For a simple cup of coffee or the more complex drinks also available for the Tassimo the Tassimo brewer model TAS4511UC/01 makes for a great quick hot beverage brewer that works well and is easy to use. The T Discs are simple to pop in and the machine takes about a minute or less to brew your drink and then just toss the disc when done.

The Tassimo brewing system makes a nice simple way to brew your favorite drinks and they do have plenty of drinks to choose from. I found the Tassimo works very well and some of the drinks I tried tasted very good but not quite as good as brewing in other more conventional machine for espressos.

The Tassimo does do a great job on a single cup of coffee but you may have to try several before you find one you prefer but I did find plenty that tasted very good. The Tassimo is a great brewer and well worth the $170 cost with discs for drinks ranging about 50 cents.
