Sweet Sixteen Party Games

Turning 16 only happens once in a lifetime and it is often a very exciting event for a young woman. This birthday is often special and it deserves a special sweet sixteen birthday party. If you are throwing a sweet sixteen party, you may want to consider playing one or more of these sweet 16 birthday party games at the event.

Dr. Tangle: Dr. Tangle is a fun game that requires teamwork and cooperation. Have everyone at the party except one or two individuals stand in a circle and hold hands. Next, have one side of the circle walk toward the other side of the circle. Direct different people to step over or go under other individual’s arms in order to form a human knot. Once everyone in the circle is tangled up, have the one or two people standing outside the knot direct the people within the knot to step over or go under different individuals to untangle the knot to make a whole circle again without anyone dropping hands in the process.

Balloon Truth or Dare: Balloon truth or dare is another one of the sweet sixteen party games you may want to play at your event. For this game you’ll need: 10 index cards cut in half – 20 cards total, 20 balloons, a pen, and at least four players for the game. Write down 10 truth questions and 10 dares on the index cards. Carefully place one card inside each balloon and then blow them up.

During the course of the game, each player takes turns choosing and popping a balloon. The player either answers the truth question or does the dare inside the selected balloon.

Pop Song Charades: This is a fun version of charades especially for teens and another one of the sweet 16 birthday party games you may want to play at your party. Write down several popular songs on slips of paper. Additionally, write down several baby songs, such as, “I’m A Little Teapot,” or, “Hush Little Baby,” on a piece of paper in a list. Place all of the pop songs on slips of paper into a bag, hat, or bucket.

Divide the teens at the party into at least two teams. On each turn, one person from the team draws a piece of paper from the hate, bucket, or bag. The team will act out the song in actions and let the other team or teams guess. The team who acts out the song gets one point and the team who guesses the song gets one point. If, on a particular turn, the team does not want to act out the pop song it chose, the team can pick a baby song from the list to act out instead.

Bluff Club: Bluff Club is yet another sweet sixteen party game you may want to play at your sweet sixteen party. To play this game, you will need a hat, a coin, a piece of paper to keep score, and a pen or pencil. This game works best with four or more players. Have everyone sit in a circle and place the hat in the middle. Each person tells a story – either true or false – it’s up to the person telling the story whether he or she tells a true or false one. Before the player begins to tell his or her story, he or she will place a coin under the hat in the middle of the circle. The other players must not see which way the coin is being placed under the hat. A player should put the coin heads up if the story he or she will tell is true and tails up if the story he or she will tell is false.

After the player has told the story, every other player in the circle will say whether he or she thinks the player’s story is true or false. After everyone has stated his or her opinion, the storyteller will lift up the hat so everyone can see whether the story was really true or false. If a guesser guesses correctly he or she gets one point. However, if a guesser guesses incorrectly, he or she loses a point. After each person in the circle has told a story, the player with the most points wins.
