So You Suffer from Social Anxiety Disorder?

Social anxiety disorder manifests itself mostly as a fear of performing poorly in social situations accompanied by a fear of humiliation or embarrassment. You may feel under the scrutiny of others or feel that others are being judgmental of you or your performance. These symptoms of social anxiety disorder may cause you to avoid these social situations or suffer extreme anxiety for having to endure them.

Sufferers of social anxiety disorder also experience physical symptoms before or during social interactions, such as palpitations, sweating, or trembling. Blushing and flushing are also characteristic of social anxiety disorder. You may experience these symptoms as you anticipate or try to participate in social interactions. You may worry excessively and experience anxiety which will make you feel awkward. In the end, your feelings of awkwardness will make you feel like you are obvious, which leads to further humiliation and embarrassment.

It would be nice if we could just snap out of it, but that’s not an alternative. Social anxiety disorder is as real for the sufferer as any debilitating disease. But help is available in the form of a little white pill called Lexapro. While Lexapro is primarily prescribed for generalized anxiety disorder, I can personally testify that Lexapro is a successful treatment for social anxiety disorder. As the world’s worst sufferer of social anxiety disorder, my confidence in social situations has improved one thousand per cent, and Lexapro is well tolerated with no apparent side effects.

Physicians have prescribed Lexapro for more than 13 million patients suffering from depression and generalized anxiety disorder. However, my psychiatrist prescribed Lexapro when I expressed the severity of my personal problem with social anxiety disorder. In a little while I started feeling more positive about myself. After a couple of months I felt stronger and more sure of myself during social interactions, and another great point about Lexapro is that I can’t tell I’m taking it because there are no side effects.

Clinical studies have shown that the number of people who have stopped taking Lexapro because of side effects is very low. In fact, Lexapro was compared to Paxil and the number of people who stopped taking Lexapro because of side effects was 8 per cent to 18 per cent for Paxil.

Lexapro is a member of the family of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs. Lexapro helps restore the brain’s chemical balance by increasing the supply of a chemical messenger in the brain called serotonin. Lexapro seems to relieve depression and anxiety by increasing serotonin without affecting other chemicals in the brain.

So, if you feel excessively anxious before a social interaction and you feel like you would like to hide behind your mother’s apron, you are probably suffering from social anxiety disorder, and as I said before, I can testify to the effectiveness of Lexapro as a treatment for this debilitating problem.

Finally, Lexapro is proven to improve my life in general as far as organizing and ordering my existence so I can say with certainty that I have it together now like I never have in my entire life. I may be living in a “pink bubble,” but I prefer to call it a “rosie” existence. And should the day come that I can’t get my Lexapro I will be of all men the most miserable.
