Sever’s Disease

Sever’s disease is a common issue, yet many people have never heard of it. When a person has Sever’s disease, it means that they commonly have pain in the heel of the foot that is the result of pressure that is applied to the heel bone. This is most commonly the result of the tendon that is referred to as the “Achilles” being extremely tight. The person who suffers from Sever’s disease most often experiencing pain when they are participating in various physical activities. These activities may include swimming, jogging, dancing, and even walking.

Sever’s disease can happen to a person at any age, but it is a popular occurrence with teenagers. The main reason that this medical condition happens to teenagers is that they are growing at a quick rate. This is actually a common issue with teenagers. The good news is that they normally grow out of the issue, but the symptoms of Sever’s disease can be quite uncomfortable while a person is experiencing it.

There are many symptoms of Sever’s disease. The most common symptom is heel pain, of course. A person may develop tenderness or even small sores or bumps on the heel that may become quite painful. The pain may result in limping, or even tiptoeing. People who have Sever’s disease also often complain of stiffness and discomfort in the leg area. This normally occurs in the early mornings, but it is possible to have this symptom throughout the entire day.

If a person experiences Sever’s disease, there are many things that can be done to soothe the symptoms of this condition. One of the best treatment options is to purchase pain relievers that can be bought in a pharmacy. Pain relievers that work to reduce swelling are great choices. A person can also switch between cold packs and heat packs. It is important to switch back and forth at least twice an hour. Many people with Sever’s disease get relief from performing various types of exercises, particularly stretching exercises. If you are experiencing pain from Sever’s disease, it is very important that you drink the right amount of water to increase hydration throughout the body, and get the proper amount of sleep so that the body can properly heal itself.
