Self-Tanning Product Review: Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray

Neutrogena tends to produce consistently reliable and effective products that also benefit healthy skin. The new self-tanning product by Neutrogena, the MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray sounds perfect. While it does have some great features, the trick of creating a successful tan with this self-tanner may lie in the eye, or really the hand, of the user.

What I Love About Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray Self-Tanner

What I love about this product is that like other Neutrogena products, the result benefits the tone and texture of my skin. The Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray I chose was the medium, not the deep. It is best to build any self-tanning tan slowly, or it will look even faker than it is.

The main feature of Neutrogena self-tanning products that I love is that it looks natural on me. Neutrogena self-tanners can look orange on some skin tones.

The Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray has an airbrush affect, and lightly mists on. The bottle claims that no rubbing is required to achieve an even-looking tan. Thissounded good to me, so I went with this product rather than the others I was considering.

Another useful feature of the Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray self-tanner is that it dries very quickly. The bottle read five minutes, and it felt like less.

The Problem with Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray Self-Tanner

The main problem with the self-tanner, Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray is that it is completely invisible when it is applied. this differs from the foaming self-tanner by Neutrogena. Because theWhat I Love About Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray self-tanner is not visible, it takes precision and painful accuracy to create an airbrushed tan on yourself.

This could just be a case of user error. I was all set to use latex gloves to evenly rub the tan before I double-checked the bottle and saw that it was a “no rub application.” How bad could it be?

The next day I anxiously looked for my tan. Fortunately, I only used it on my legs. The result was a very slight tan with a couple of round brown spots, the size of a coaster. Not streaks, just a couple of big circles.

Because it did not have much initial affect, I decided to try again. This time I did rub the product on and was more confident that it would blend better. I was right.

Should You Buy Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray Self-Tanner

If you have a very precise airbrush spraying technique, and Neutrogena self-tanners are the right tone for you, go for it. Also, if there is someone else who can apply the self-tanner, then this product may be for you.

When using this self-tanner, or any self-tanner, do yourself a big favor and test it out before any big date, event or outing. It’s better to laugh off the results in your own home than have to cover up with pants on a nice day.
