Scrapbooking and Ebay: Sell Your Pages

Scrapbooking is a passion that you can put a lot of money into, but never see any return on your investment, until now. Scrapbook pages are seeing a new wave of popularity on eBay, the popular online auction site. When I was scrapbooking, I would often go to eBay to see if I could find slightly used or sometimes new gadgets to add to my collection. When I finally decided that I didn’t have the time or space to pursue my hobby anymore, I looked to eBay to sell my scrapbooking items and stamps and took a huge loss. But now there is a way to make money while still enjoying your hobby.

Scrapbook pages can go for large amounts of money on eBay, sometimes as much as a couple hundred dollars for as little as two pages. Paper piecing seems to be a big seller. This is simply when you take different shapes of paper and put them together to make a complete design. Pages with paper piecing creates a more eye-catching page and will often drive the price for your page or pages higher than a more simply done page.

If you’ve never sold on eBay, don’t let it intimidate you. Take a look around at Seller’s Central and you will find great tutorials on how to sell your wares. Its easier than you may think and by your second or third auction, you will have a better grasp on the process. If you know someone who sells or has sold on eBay, have them walk you through it. It is an easy process, and selling your items and making money is as addicting as scrapbooking can be.

If you go to eBay and do a search on completed listings of scrapbook pages you can get an idea on what is selling in the way of themes. This will give you an idea on what people are looking for and how much detail they want.

The starting price of your bid will depend on you. Look at your page. What do you feel its worth? How much time did you put into it? Approximately how much in materials did you use to create your masterpiece? These are all things to consider when determining the starting price of your auction.

Another idea to determine what to start your auction at is take a look around eBay. See what price range others have their pages at. Look to see if they have any bids. Also look to see how their pages compare to yours. Are they more detailed or less? These questions will help you decide on what price to start your auction. Then sit back and watch the bids roll in.

A positive aspect of this is endeavor is shipping costs. If you’ve attempted to ship anything recently, you know shipping prices have gone through the roof. For people buying on eBay, the price of shipping will often make or break your sale. A high shipping price will often turn many buyers away. You can probably ship your lightweight pages for under ten dollars by Priority Mail through the post office. Or you can carefully package them in an envelope and ship for less than five dollars. Just make sure however you package up your page, it will arrive at its destination safe and damage free. Your feedback will depend on this. Negative feedback will also turn future buyers away.

Selling your scrapbook pages on eBay can turn into a competitive market. This means it’s up to you to create your page in an eye catching way that will outshine the other sellers. The best part of this venture is that no matter what you create, it will be unique. No other seller will be offering the same page that you are. For an added selling point, consider offering to customize your page for the winning bidder of your auction.

Go ahead and give it a try. If your page doesn’t sell, you are only out a small listing fee. For instance if you list your page with a starting price of less than ten dollars, it’s only forty cents. If you start your auction at less than $25, its sixty cents. You can probably find that much in the seat cushions of your couch. It’s a small price to pay for what could be a very lucrative sale.
