The 1920s was a time of great wealth for most of the world. It was also a time of letting loose and having fun for the younger generation. For women it was a time of short skirts, bob hair cuts, jazz, and rebelling against what was thought as proper behavior. The style of these women or flappers was straight and unrestricted. Skirts often were above the knees and considered very risque at the time. All of this was adorned by art deco jewelery. They style of the 1920s is not only functional but it allows the bride a little bit of breathing, while having a bit of a unique touch. In comparison to the princess wedding or the classy Victorian style or even the modern wedding many choose, the 1920s wedding is all about jazz and having a good time. What I am going to pay close attention to is the flapper style because in my opinion it is a fun style for a bride who might not be into the whole long flowing white gown idea. Unique Vintage Exclusive Ivory & Silver Beaded Fringe Reproduction Flapper Dress
The first dress I will be introducing you too is a Unique Vintage Exclusive Ivory & Silver Beaded Fringe Reproduction Flapper Dress. It has glass beading and is made of a meshy material that gives for generous sizing. Please not that a slip should be worn with this dress. It ranges from a small (size 2/4) to an extra large (14/16). It is a good deal at $198.00. Black Satin Beaded Flapper Style Cocktail Dress
The next dress I looked at was a little more risque and for maybe a bit more of a bride who wants to really stand out and be flashy. It is a Black Satin Beaded Flapper Style Cocktail Dress.
This dress is made of a jet black satin with gorgeous beaded and lace details. It has built in cups for bust support. It ranges in sizes extra small to 2X, however due to the nature of the material it is not as generous in sizing and the 2X is closer to a size 14. The dress is also reasonably priced at $128.00. It can be paired with a number of items to complete the look. First of course are the black lace opera gloves ($12.00). A gorgeous Sweet Romance 1920’s Flapper Style Long Silver Pearl Necklace with Blue Cameo Brooch ($65.00) to attract the wonderful neckline of the dress. Green & Silver Embroidered Reproduction 1920’s Flapper Dress
The third dress I looked at is a Green & Silver Embroidered Reproduction 1920’s Flapper Dress. It is a classy dress in a gorgeous light green color. It is perfect for any summer wedding, especially one with a 1920s jazz feel to it. It is of the same stretchy mesh material as the first dress and it is recommended to wear with a slip because it is slightly see through. It has gorgeous layers of glass beading with a glitzy center design. It is sized small (2/4) to extra large (12/14) and costs $228.00. This is a relatively low price for a wedding dress. The fifth and last dress that I looked at is by Nataya and is from The Montmartre Doll collection of Vintage. It comes in three colors ivory, amethyst and coffee, and black (not shown). It is a beautiful rayon,off the shoulder dress with an exquisite vintage detail throughout. It comes in sizes small (2/4) to extra large (12/14). It is also comfortably priced at $210.00 and is perfect for a more formal evening wedding.
