Review: Parent’s Choice Infant Formula with DHA & ARA

When my son was first born, we started him on Enfamil Lipil infant formula. He was strictly on this formula for the first six months and then my husband and I noticed that we were going broke buying him formula. One 25 ounce can of Enfamil infant formula costs $26.00. With him going through 2-3 cans of week, we were spending more money on food for him, than we were on ourselves. We decided to try something else. We went to Wal-Mart and saw the brand Parent’s Choice. Parent’s Choice is Wal-Mart’s own brand of infant formula. A 25 ounce can of Parent’s Choice Infant Formula with DHA and ARA costs only $11.88. It is less than half the amount of Enfamil. It had to be too good to be true, but it wasn’t.

We compared the can of Enfamil to the can of Parent’s Choice and we saw no difference. Most important they both contain the lipids DHA and ARA, which are said to be essential for baby’s growth. They both have the same amount of important nutrients in them. Some of the nutrients that they both have the same amount of are vitamin A, vitamin B, folic acid and vitamin C. They also have the same amount of minerals in them such as calcium, iron, sodium and potassium. There is also a regulation in the United States that all infant formula has to be manufactured in accordance with the Federal Drug and Cosmetic Act for infant formula under the regulation of the U.S Food and Drug Administration. So there are federal regulations that all formula has to past and they just can’t put anything they want in the formula.

Even though I was hesitant at first, we went ahead and bough the Parent’s Choice infant formula. So far, my son has been on the formula for over four months and has had absolutely no problems with it. My biggest worry switching formulas was that he would have some kind of adverse reaction to something in the formula, but he has been completely fine. Best of all we are able to save over $100 a month on infant formula. We can now save that money and put it away for my son’s future. I seriously can’t figure out why the Parent’s Choice is so much cheaper though? It is the same product, just without a brand name on it. In conclusion, for our next child I am going to start them right out from the beginning on Parent’s Choice Infant Formula with DHA and ARA and I recommend any new parent do the same. It is truly the smartest choice.
