Review of Glade Winter Collection, Shimmering Spruce Candle, with Balsam Fir & Juniper

I have been a huge fan of Glade for years now, and I eagerly anticipate their new limited edition seasonal fragrances. Their most recent 2012 Fall Collection of fragrances failed to win me over completely, however, even with that said, I still wanted to try their newest Winter Collection of fragrances.

Luckily for me, their winter lineup of scents hit the shelves quickly after the fall collection grew more sparse.

The very first candle I got my hands on, went to a fragrance that I simply adore. In fact I will burn Christmas tree scents all year round, due to my strong liking of pine, or balsam fragrances. Glade’s Winter Collection, included a scent labeled Shimmering Spruce, which contained a mix of balsam fir and juniper.

The Scent Is Holiday Magic

When I tilted the glass jar up to my nose though all I smelled was a holly jolly holiday. The beautiful Christmas tree scent hit me first, but afterward that powerful green woodsy scent was followed with something refreshing, like that scent you get right before good long snow fall. When it comes to Glade’s Shimmering Spruce fragrance, you get the feeling of both warmth, from the scent of Christmas trees, and then you get that refreshing yet chilly vibe, as you would get while sitting outside in the snow.

All in all, the scent is like a perfect little combination of what winter delivers. Warmth with your family around the Christmas tree on Christmas morning, and that cold chill you get when exiting the home into the brisk wintery weather.

Now if the candle was able to captivate me in such a way when it was not even lit, I could only begin to imagine how wonderful it would be once I took a flame to the wick.

Scent When Lit

When it came to Glade’s Fall collection, I was dissapointed primarily due to their candles, and how wonderful their fragrances smelled in the store. However when I brought the candles home and lit them, the scent was faded, and in some cases barely even there.

I could only hope that this would not be the same case when it came to this candle.

Shimmering Spruce delivers a dose of fragrance once it is lit. It was not as powerful as I imagined it would be though. Glade candles in the past used to pack a really powerful punch, I was hoping for that same powerful punch that I remembered from Glade. However as of lately it seems as if their candles have been growing weaker and weaker.

Shimmering Spruce is recognized in fragrance once it is lit and gets burning, however you have to be sort of close by in order to really take in hints of the scent.

In a large room, this candle is sort of lost when it comes to dispersing scent. In a smaller room however, the candle manages to hold its own and be more recognized. I liked them better in the past though, when one tiny glass jar candle could liven up an entire living room area with ease, while trickling into other rooms in the house.

Overall:

Glade’s Shimmering Spruce candle smells great in smaller rooms when lit, however do not expect too much punch in larger rooms.
